Jimbo, the only other thing I did change at the same time was 2 of the hoses under the air intake manifold...
One was on the right side-a vac hose for the fuel pressure regulator - hard 'U' shaped piece
And the other was on the front left-used for fuel purge I think
Sorry it might not be of much help, but thought I'd let you know anyway as they could be relevant

Make sure you go with the DW65C, I made the mistake of buying a non-compact version when told to...Nothing worse than getting fuel everywhere for nothing

I had similar issues with my B4 about a year ago and ended up scratching my head for weeks trying to figure it all out...
...it turned out to be that the cheapie version of fuel filter from Repco & SuperCheapAuto (silverline) doesn't seal correctly in that (annoying) cup on the fuel pump housing and stuffs with the fuel flow at high speeds.
I purchased a new filter cup, new o-ring, OEM filter and replaced a flexible fuel line...wallah, perfection
*The fuel line was because I accidentally kinked the middle line that runs from the top of the housing...p.s you can use Speedflow fittings and stainless braided nylon tubing for that.
