Yes Jase, easier to kill a 250W speaker with a 50W amp than a 50W speaker with a 100W amp....
Amplifier clipping is far more destructive to speakers than actual speaker clipping (distortion/square wave).

haha, I would argue wattage does mean something, and if those numbers were RMS the speaker wouldn't last 2 minutes with the amp at full volume. Nevertheless, keep drinkin'!Darren, I have had a shitload of experience with speakers (although I am typing this pissed as) wattage doesn't mean shit all, plug anything with anything and it works, I have had a 220w amp with a 30w speaker and it doesn't blow xo

Do you know what the output of the HU is? and the wattage of your speakers?...and after many hours of rewiring the complicated McIntosh system, i am now running a single head unit finally.
Looks much better with just one unit.
Only reason I ask is that I took my speakers out today to find out if my new HU will be to HOT for them... My speakers were labelled Clarion- MAX-30W NOM-15W. And that was written on both the door speakers as well as the tweeters.... My original HU also says "4 x 30W" on the face of it, so it looks like if I turned it up full it wouldn't take long to blow my speakers....
Anyway, hope you don't 'blow up your engine' because your tunes are to loud, followed by blowing up your speakers..
B4's would most likely be higher wattage than mine, but worth checking out all the same I reckon...
Have a good night!

Looking at a Kenwood BT 2DIN unitWhat HU are you looking at getting. I say ditch one of your din pockets and get a double din HU. You only really need one pocket for random crap dont ya?

Sorry to hear about your B4 Buzz... Hope all is rectified ASAP.
I'm looking for info on my single-DIN Clarion HU - my manual doesn't even give me a model#...
Specifically what its output is??? Anyone know?
I'm looking at a new HU which says it's a 'MOS-FET 50w x 4 Amplifier', and I want to know if that will be to little/much for my stock speakers......
Don't know what speakers are even in the car - Wattage/Ohmage.....
Are these specs in the manual somewhere that I've missed???
