What brand CV shafts are good

01 September 2014 - 04:46 PM

hey hey,

so i've had a CV boot think it was a great idea to let go while on the beach, and true to natural selection theory, it has paid for this bad choice with its life....

but anyway, i've called around and there are a few options for CV shafts, but i hadnt heard of any of these brands and a google and forum search didnt come up with anything

so the options are below

Repco

-"Roadtech" - $259

Supercheap Auto

-"Fuji" - $155

-"DTA" - $187

-"Protex" - $161

Subaru

-OEM (no longer produced) - $1379 (no thats not a typo)

or otherwise getting one from a wrecker

car is a 1994 gen 1 liberty sedan 4wd

i need a cheap daily

18 June 2014 - 06:27 PM

hi guys,

i'm looking to get a cheap daily driver with a bit of offroad ability.

I've don't wont to spend over $2500 and been have seen a few liberty's and outbacks on Gumtree, but just thought i'd throw a few questions out there into the suby world (i'm new to the brand). i'm reasonably competent at fixing things, but i don't wont a lemon

(check it out for yourself)

http://www.gumtree.c...300.00__4000.00

is there anything i should avoid (like a particular mileage, engine/transmission combination, etc etc)

also how do the three first generations stack up in offroad ability? also manuals vs autos?

thanks in advance
