hi.. anyone with same problems?

17 February 2016 - 03:47 PM

Hi All, I have a 95 model Subaru Liberty LX Wagon, has done just over 400,000kms, but seems to run fine except for one problem i have had with the car since buying it 2 years ago. Am wondering if anyone has the same problem. When going up small inclines but (drawn out) say over .2-1km the car seems to suddenly lack power, and starts chugging like it runs on 2 cylinders, to the point where i go from 5th down to 2nd gear and down to 30kms, the car dies and stalls. I then smell a kind of burning smell. I pull over, wait a few seconds to couple minutes and the car starts fine and off it goes again. The burning smell is gone. Its weird because it does not do this on really really steep hills, gets up them fine. I would assume it was fuel related, i have replaced the fuel pump 2 years ago, and the fuel filter 6 months ago, I do smell fuel inside the car occasionally, but not outside the car, and i cant smell where exactly it coming from. However other ppl have said things from, 'a computer problem', and clutch problem something to do with a hillstart thing that subarus come with when going up hills to prevent roll back or something. The fuel consumption i admit is not as economical as id liked, only getting between 350kms out of a tank, just over 400 if i really push it. $20 gets me like only about 150kms if that, I guess its done a few k's so its getting tired, I am guessing its only a small tanks say 65/55 litres? Please help? any ideas anyone? confused...
