Sounds like an air leak.
Hey a can of wd40 with the long skinny needle & spray around & along top & bottom of air intake. Listen for changes. If that does nothing, start on vacuum lines.

Return it, its faulty.

If its from Masters, they should replace it

Can anyone tell me if 2003 Impreza rear strut assemblies are the same as 2007 or any other year for that matter? Having trouble finding ones from a specific year and need one asap as I just put a full set from a 2003 Impreza in my 1999 GT Forester but the rear left seems to be really bouncy and scrubs everytime I turn sharp. Almost got defected because it scraped past a cop. 
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Loom should just undo & pull out the way.

For the harness, use a soak of WD40 the day before, then just undo the clips the correct way & wiggle. They are supposed to be tight

Mount the engine on opposite sides. Doesnt really matter what to, but there should be a couple of mounting loops on the block already.

I just got a good heavy chain from bunnings, just make sure its long enough to reach across the engine & have a bit of play in it. I make mine 1 across he engine then half again.
