Just a quick question fellas, there's a sensor just behind my turbo that plumbs into the exhaust, is this an oxygen sensor? I believe this model only has the one sensor....

Yeah I know, I bought an automatic so my wife can also drive the car, but honestly I hate auto's 😃 and I'm now secretly gathering parts to do the conversion. Anyone done one of these before? If someone on here was considering going from manual to automatic that would be sweet. Any help appreciated. I have found most of the gear available from a '94 model but not sure if everything will fit up.

Let me just say that this car is very clean and has been religiously serviced. However, it is hard to start mainly when cold but easier when warm, I leave the ignition on for couple of seconds before starting which seems to help a little. The other thing is she has a light case of surging under 3000rpm's with light to moderate acceleration, the tacho rises but as it does it fluctuates up and down along with this surging. If I really put my foot down it seems to disappear, it can be hard to maintain speed particularly out on the highway as I try to maintain speed the car seems to want to accelerate then slow down slightly all the time.
So far I have replaced the fuel filter, spark plug leads with no change to the cars problem. I also cleaned AFM and did ECU reset with no codes resulting and no fix.
I gave the car to Subaru, they tested battery, checked fuel pressure, no codes were found, recommended the upper cylinder clean and new plugs, which they did and they reckoned the surging was gone. I drove the car and still no change, still surging and still hard to start. 😞 still trying to find why this is happening..any help appreciated
