removing/bypassing a Catalytic Convertor on an 02 WRX Wagon

29 May 2017 - 03:08 AM

Okay, I just replaced my stock exhaust with a 2.5" Catback, but I'm still getting a loud sound from the front portion so that tells me it's either my Downpipe or Catalytic Convertor that needs replaced. I was wondering if I can get a mid-high performance Downpipe that'll allow me to remove the Catalytic Convertor completely.

[edit] Nevermind, I found a catless bellmouth downpipe. So that kind of answered myquestion.

No Cap Radiator for a '02 WRX Wagon EJ20

29 May 2017 - 03:02 AM

Can anyone recommend a a replacement radiator? I was looking at a Mishimoto one but it only comes with a radiator cap version and I'm afraid that'll conflict with the hood.

I forgot to mention my EJ20 is an Automatic Transmission.

Recently bought '02 WRX Wagon EJ20T, exhaust question.

20 May 2017 - 01:54 AM

I just bought my WRX 2 days ago. The dealership mentioned there was a leak in or near the resonator, no biggie... Been there before. I got under the car today and noticed the bolts connecting the muffler to the rest of the exhaust pipe broke, leaving the muffler hanging by itself. So that means the best bet it just to replace everything behind the downpipe/headers. I found a Spec-D Full Catback (wrong muffler, and exhaust tips for my taste) for a WRX for roughly $130 (USD). The site like many others doesn't specify whether it's for the EJ20T, or the EJ25. Should it work, or be safe on the EJ20T?

The full name of the kit is "SPEC-D Tuning MFCAT3-WRX01 Subaru Impreza WRX Sedan Wagon Turbo Full Catback Exhaust System" on Amazon.
