FMIC Set Up's

03 August 2011 - 09:15 AM

got some questions about fmic set ups

first off . intercoolers i know size matters the bigger you can fit the better but what about brands ?
is there a differance between a cheap $120 no name intercooler to lets say as example a $400 blitz brand same size?

2.5 inch pipes or 3 inch out of cooler as i know you can get silican 3inch to 2.5 inch reducers ? and would it make any changes to flow eg. any pro's or cons

also is it true that one 90 degrea bend = 3 straight pipes ?

i know this would have been covered 1000's times before and could google this

but im looking for personal opionions and experiances and recommandations

also is it better to run pipes down thrue the guards
or cut just under the head lights and run pipes thrue ?

im also assumeing as commen sence that theres no differance between polished pipes and non polished pipes besides for show?

been qouted $250 for non polished pipes includeing installation

or $500 for polished includeing installation

is there anything else i should be looking at before installing ?

will i need a ecu chip ? as im usieng the JDM ecu atm so by takeing the tmic off and puting in a fmic or will the jdm ecu adjust it self to the change ?
have manual boost controller in atm but have a electronic blitz sbc controller to go in just have not got to wireing it in yet

[EDIT] also is it illegal to cut your front bar ? and have your fmic or would it be fine.? or if it is illegal could you get away with cuting the front bar then useing mesh to cover over

the build is starting 92 libby

ok guys geting my tax back. in not to long. so i figured would be a good time to start my conversion

atm i have a ej20-g turbo jdm engine thats done around 150 000 since the conversion still running fine on 12.5psi
as car will be geting pulled off the road in december for 2 years its time to start building my new engine

im wanting to acheive around 300kw at the wheels as a starting point

so ive choosen the block im going to start with

ive decided upon a EJ207 short block priced them up around the $2200
it was a toss up between the ej257 or the ej207 as the 257 has better torque. but will be going with the ej207 for the fact it will be a street track car so the higher rpm torque wont be a problem and can correct this with higher boost level

now im thinking of going with my99 heads and a cam to suit as ive been reading up they have a really good flow rate and use sodium filled valves

this will only be a week end driven car not a daily
please feel free to correct if im wrong about anything as any recomandations or idea's to improve my build would be greatly appreciated

how does the Subaru AWD System work?

25 July 2011 - 11:56 AM

i dont know if this is right or not but im under the impression they work off the ecu ?
by transfering 20% to rear then when / if it starts sliping and puts 20% more power back to the front?

or is it like a open diff configuration ?
so if it detects wheel spin on 1 wheel it transfers power to the other 3 wheels ?

ive looked up wiki but finding it hard to understand the way they are explaining it

was just curious as what the differance between AWD and 4wd witch is what got me onto this subject
