Rear Lights Leaking :( But trying a fix...

28 April 2013 - 02:51 PM

My 00 Lancaster has leaking rear lights in the LEGACY garnish, I assume others have had this issue?

I've put some black silicon on the top joining edge between the fascia and the back plate.

Did it a few days ago, pretty much stopped 80% of water, so took the light off again today and filled up the middle part too incase it leaks through into the lights & sealed some missed areas.

Fingers crossed no more worries.

Me being the dumb ass I am, snapped a piece of the fascia off :( now ive glued it back on but looks average haha but not buying a new one !

Return to the Outback

11 March 2013 - 11:19 AM

Hi guys,

Pleased to say i'm back in the Outback owners club.

After just about a year of loosing my original '01 Outback, i've purchased another because I missed them so much!

Well in saying that, I have brought another JDM Outback (the Lancaster so it's called)

This one has over 320,000km on the clock, and she drives somewhat better than my previous Outback which only had 118,000km on the clock!

Paid $2,800 NZD for this, and while she's messy cosmetic wise, i'm happy to spend time tidying her up...

Mods / touches so far include:
- Replaced & fixed rear taillights on centre tail-gate that were rusted out
- Added & installed cargo blind
- Fixed rear dog-net (not that I use it but looks nice up)
- Tinted windows to 35% (fronts) and rear-pax / boot 20% VLT
- New Subaru Air Filter
- Replaced McIntosh unit with tidier one (knobs missing on original)
- Fixed centre cup-hold pop-up
- Replaced ALL accessory switch illumination lights so I can see them at night

To Do:
- Add Lancaster6 & VDC badging back onto vehicle tailgate
- Add Spoiler to rear tail-gate (or does it look better without)
- Possibly replace rear cargo area cladding as it's badly scratched
- Add a few missing & broken bits in
- Wire in a Outback facelift VDC OFF switch somehow to this non-facelift model.

So as well as my 2008 Spec.B Legacy (3.0L), this is my other Subaru... used for work & off-roading / adventures.

This cars TCU seems to be more responsive than my 08... in the sense that when you go up a hill for instance, the car will downshift to keep you accelerating & not slow down, whereas when I take my 08 up a hill in Intelligent mode (SI Drive) it'll actually slow down so I have to manually override it or put it in Sport mode which is annoying... however, my 08 has WAY more get up and go than the Outback Posted Image

Opinions on Subaru Grandwagon 1998? Buying one :)

28 January 2013 - 06:03 PM

Hi guys,

Just looking for your insight on a Grandwagon Legacy Im buying tomorrow most likely.

Specs:
-1998 MY (Its the BG legacy chassis)
-2.5L EJ25
-5 Speed Manual with Dual-range
-Black / Silver colour

Stats:
-237000km on clock
-Tidy exterior for age, interior is nice

When I drive it, shifter feels nice and firm, clutch however is a little clunky, (im no expert) but I did a hillstart and used a bit of handbrake and the car pretty much stalled half way letting out the clutch so it must be OK... might just need an oil change?

Enjoy has no loud knocking (but then again I had it warmed up) ... Oil was clean, no weird clouding of coolant or overheating. Sounds quite different btw to my friends 2.0L EJ20 when you get the revs up.

Only downsides were yea, the clutch feeling a little weird, front ends a bit noisy & clunky (is this the bushes?) and the oil sump was quite oily, im picking there is a problem with the oil gasket which is easy to fix?

Any advice is appreciated and things to look for.

Oh and i'm paying $1700NZD for it, which is alright I guess :)

BH / BE Subaru Info Website I made...

13 December 2012 - 11:27 AM

Hi guys,

Just thought i'd post a website i've been working on slowly over the last week or so... It's just a website with the facelifted BE & BH Legacy / Lancaster's on it... The JDM ones that is...

I used the domain name from an advertising campaign back in 2001 that Jennifer Lopez starred in for Subaru showing off the Legacy E-Tune, RSK & Lancaster. I'm managed to register the exact domain name they used in the campaign so hopefully all those Legacy TV Commercials with the URL's will get some traffic to it lol.

You can see it @ http://www.3keys-legacy.com/

... It's got some pictures etc on there but most of it's just plain-jane info, I will try find more stuff to add to it like more specs & images / videos etc... Hopefully the admin doesn't mind me showing this link... but ill remove it if it's not allowed.

I photoshopped my old Lancaster 6 into the header and put it on some grass, overhanging a mountain range lol... Not the best i know but bit of fun :P
