In Topic: Gen 2 BBoD diagram & #45 Engine check light.

Hey Josh, I'm a bit of a masochist ( enjoy the pain ) & I'm determined to make my TT setup work! I've tested my map sensor with a vacuum pump & the signal voltage does not change. I'm 99% sure it's stuffed. I'd like to buy a replacement. According to the book it's a 1990- 1994 map sensor with the triangular electrical connector. Can you help me procure one please?

Cheers mate!

Hi guys, thanks for the diagram Zanzara, I think it matches mine ( I'm away for a couple of days & will check when I get back) Thanks too Josh, I have  put the car in diagnostic mode & the solenoids do cycle. There is a large gold solenoid , Exhaust duty I believe, that cycles very rapidly while the others click like indicator frequency. There is a mod described in TT that eliminates this solenoid. I have just found the correct resistor to fit in place of this solenoid & will bung it in tomorrow. I'll let you know how I go.

Thanks!

Hi Josh, thanks for the advice mate. I haven't touched the differential pressure sensor ( fortunately ??) My car has 2 wastegates & the map sensor is indeed in BBoD, I don't know whether carby cleaner has been used in the past. It appears that this car has had the error code 45 since 2016 ( I have looked up it's history through this club & there are a few posts on it )  a new map sensor is something I'm happy to purchase .Do you need numbers or anything to I.D it , What's one cost & when can I have it?

Thanks!

In Topic: DTC 45 - Pressure Exchange Solenoid Valve

06 September 2019 - 03:33 PM

The Gen2 Code 45 relates to the Pressure Duty Solenoid
not the "Pressure Exchange" Solenoid that you'd see paired with a MAP sensor on a single turbo.

Within the BBoD you will see the bigger of the solenoids as pictured, the gold one.
that is your Pressure Duty Solenoid.
it is (poorly) responsible for pre-spool of the secondary turbo. by operating on the Positive Pressure (top) Port of the ECV

it's also fed from a vac line under the TMIC which gunks up with oil.

This is one part of the system that you can bypass easily, and manually adjust the ECV for trouble-free TT-ing

Also for reference the Gen2 TT has it's MAP sensor within the BBoD
The Gen3 has it next to the throttle body.
Neither of them have a PE solenoid like you'd find in a proper turbo setup as the TT system is able to take Atmospheric readings due to the operation of other solenoids.

Hey Robbks, If you are still on this forum, can you tell me how to bypass this part of the system? I'd love to have this issue sorted!! Thanx in advance!

In Topic: Help me ID my Liberty.

Hey Guys, I'm now the proud owner of this Liberty, would anyone have a vacuum hose diagram for it? it appears to have a couple of vacuum ports open on the inside of the black box on the drivers side shock tower.  Should it have a vacuum tank ( it doesn't ) ?

Thanks in advance!
