I recently bought a manual 2003 Suberty LIberty 2.5 RX privately with 190,000kms. When I brought the car home which was a 25 minute drive from where I picked it up from, I noticed the car making a thudding sound and it felt as though the wheels were hopping when i turned corners at low speed. When i test drove the car this sound wasnt there as I only drove for 10 mins or so. It seems to only happen after the car has been driven for a while. This has been on going now and my mechanic thought it was a loose power steering belt. The noise it still there and I have been told by another mechanic that it could be the CV shafts but he was not certain. I was wondering if anyone has had this problem or knows what it could be.

Thanks

Chris

Wot suby says.

The centre diff warms up with a bit of driving and binds - then this forces the front wheels to skip when turning, as they're going the wrong speed.

Best felt in slippery shopping centre car parks after a long drive

Its already been said but defiantly sounds like the center diff, I drove my friends car down to the coast and when we got to the hotel it did the same thing and i shit my pants cause i thought i broke his car. but because i was in a very slippery underground car park it felt terrible and 10x worse and thats what got diagnosed as the fault.
