Its been whining for a while on cruise, went out on friday night. did a launch, spun all fours.. all good. later that night i noticed a knock knock knock noise coming from the rear under deceleration. SO im assuming that i have chipped a few teeth of the pinion or crownwheel. oh well, im about to drive up sydney way to get another 4.44 from Ben (TZlegacy)

lol, you've gotta learn that just because you've got a near bulletproof box/clutch the next thing to break is the weakest link in the chain... diffs/driveshafts

My Rant! My car is only 3 wheel drive LOL! While my car was in the air yesterday I took the chance to get under the car while it was going to try and see where my new clunks are from (got clunks from the rear and front now ) Noticed that under any acceleration in any gear my front left wheel doesnt really move... just sorta shudders a bit while the other 3 take off. weeiird. Thank F**k I got a spare box to rebuild.

Uni is fine, check that while I had it diss-connected from the g/box.... diff I am thinking.

remove broken diff, drain oil, remove hat and pinion flange from broken diff. Remove hat and pinion from new diff and swap them over. Install back into car with new oil in 50 mins... YEWWWW!!! No more whine in 5th, no more grinding and thumping. Damage to the old diff was torn teeth from the sun gears and sliced a chip of the pinion.

I did, Just the new diff being from a late model car, the studs on the back that bolt to the diff carrierare longer and will hit the spare wheel well. and the alignment holes on the tail shaft flange are different to early model Subaru.

So i just swapped the Hat and pinion/tail shaft flange over, and all good:)

hahahahahahah bastard I can rant without using that word..... I AM PISSED OFF!! I come home this afternoon to find the neighbours tree has dropped some large branches on the roof of my car leaving some pretty deep "impressions", also on the bonnet. I had complained about this branch previously and asked that it be removed... no one freaking listened and now it drops a branch Spoke to panel beaters and they say $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ interior strip, pretty much they are willing to paint the whole car except the rear bar and boot.... all doors/bonnet and bumper and front fenders and roof will be done. Reason behind all this is if they do the bonnet they need to do the front fenders to match, aswell as the front bar. they would also need to do this in the reverse direction which means the doors..... as far as I can tell now I will have to fork out for the excess to the insurance company....
