Correction. Model designation FAIL. HJ = 3.9L OHV Diesel. Nugget. Overheating headgasket blowing boat anchor motor. HZJ = 4.2L OHC Diesel. Awesome motor. HZJ75 utes are freaking awesome! I had a troopy. Loved it.

The engine would be a 1HZ then.

Wicked motor. Would be even better with a tarbo!

Low range is loooooow on these things!

In know the TD's on the 80 series were a bit of a dudd... dont know if the HZJ's of the same era were any different

I was just playing around with it before (the car) and I took off in low range 4th gear and it was still lower than normal 1st. I have to drive it from wellsite to wellsite, each about an hour away in mud and dirt, fun fun. and it has two ridiculous sized diesel tanks. But my phones on 6% battery now so I must be off (until tomorrow) cya ladies.

In the brief drive from the shop, it was more noticeably more responsive. Really starting to like my H6 - it finally understands I'm not 65-years old and its holding gears longer. Air filter was pretty decent bang for my buck. I didn't give it the beans because everyone was flashing their lights at me...mobile speed camera. Looks like the operator had brought his friends along as well, as the Territory was full. Cos obviously, thats what the cool people do.

I did my apprentership on bloody LandCruisers.

I remember when the 80 series were new!
Rebuilt about 8 1HDT turbo diesel engines due to cracked main bearing journals sending crap up to the bigend bearings and taking them out. Still managed to hold some oil pressure with a spun big end! Really small bearing shells for a big grunty diesel.

If I told you I was a compulsive liar, would you believe me?
