Honestly? New Stratos? I didn't know. That is honest. But I'm kinda pleased I could recognise it! Tell me moar about it. And moar pics. Without camera wielding journos and other pastaeaters.

That new Stratos looks like it means business.

Check out those brakes!

and super short wheel-base!

Yes please.

EDIT:

Holy shit batman!
  • The Stratos is heavily based on the Ferrari 430 Scuderia.
  • A low weight of under 2,650 pounds and the Ferrari's 510-hp engine promise exhilarating performance.

That is true, it will run a V8 F-car engine. The front lights and a bit of other components are from Ferrari as well, my only fear is the loading up of driver aids... paddle shift, traction control, christ, even AIRBAGS should be a no no in a Stratos. But anyway, this is my new dream car. Looking for more details.

holy shark repellent batman!! that looks crazy!

As soon as she hands it to you, slowly take of your pants, then, while staring her straight in the eyes rub it against the tip of you penis, while continuing your painfully intense gaze whisper to her;

"My eye is watering, this might be a bit hot"

I should just convert to single, right?

Needs more front splitter. New Stratos looks kinda cool. Had an original Stratos parked in front of me at a car show eairler this year. Luckily it was bloody light, as I had to push it out of the way to get my car out! Typical competition car; light, loud and very poor finish.

If I told you I was a compulsive liar, would you believe me?

I'm hoping this will be to the Stratos what the Enzo is to the F40.

Big call.

But the rally pedigree is no longer there.

The Stratos forged itself on the rally circuits.

This thing.......hasn't.

Do you mean that Lancia is no longer a rally force? Because I don't think anyone could argue with that, but the Lancia Stratos on which this 'retro homage' is based was indeed one the greatest homologated rally cars in history (in my ruby sunglasses eyes)

What I mean Nik is that there's no rally development in this car. Yes, its a homage to the old Stratos. Which had pedigree. It's an ubercool car nonetheless.

I agree, I'm still trying to understand the exact platform or if this is a complete ground up car build. Apparently there is an AutoBlog story on it today??? Some fawkstain has sent me the aforementioned 11MB emails FOUR TIMES so I cannot get onto anything like AB. ARGH!

Autoblog reports the Lancia Stratos revival project that we've been hearing about for the past week or so is much farther along than we thought, as engineers did some running at northern Italy's Balocco test track in late June. For the first time, we've seen the new car alongside an original Stratos and the designers have done a remarkable job in recreating the classic's unique shape, size and proportions.

This new Stratos arrives during the 40th anniversary year of the Marcello Gandini-designed Stratos Zero concept, whose name was later resurrected for the rally car and homologation special. Like the 1970s-era Stratos, power reportedly comes from a Ferrari engine, this time a V8 probably donated from the F430. (The original used the 2.4-liter Dino V6.) Italiaspeed reports that the new car is so true to the concept of the original that it even has door-mounted helmet storage.

The bodywork has apparently been crafted in carbon fiber and as many as five prototypes may already be running. If so, this is not likely the one-off that was originally speculated, but a car that could see a limited production run like the Alfa Romeo 8C Competizione.

Needs more front splitter.

Haha yeh, that Mercedes needs as much downforce as it can get. Remember Mark Webber flipping his CLK GTR DTM? :
