I wanted to steer clear of the eBay brands for obvious reasons. I settled for a full screen Kenwood.

Would you mind saying what model/cost? Full screen = 7" ?

Is it easy to install? Yes most definitely. The hardest part is ripping apart the dash, but even that isn't terribly challenging. In my case, I'm doing the install with a mate of mine who does it for a living, only because mine includes a rear camera and TV tuner, hence things get a bit complex.

DIN merely refers to the size of the stereo. Its a standard measurement used in the car industry. Your car would have a Clarion single DIN head unit standard. The later Gen3 models have the double DIN head units which is big enough to incorporate the cassette player.

Cheers, I like the look of the double DIN 7" face (for GPS) opposed to the singe DIN motorised flip-up face.
Not really interested in the DVD playing component, but it's pretty much a standard feature for that price range.
Do you know if there are "wiring harness adapters" for Gen3 Subaru's like the MightyMods boys used on their install?

I uninstalled it because it died in the ass.
Touch screen stopped working, ipod control never really worked that well, USB struggled to make any sense... all round not a very good option. Got most of my money back after a lengthy email-tennis match.

May I ask where that one came from? China? Brand name?

After the wedding I'm going to get a Pioneer AVH-P3250BT from www.ryda.com. Awesome prices on all their products and they all work! Woohoo!
Was originally looking at the 3150DVD but I want the Bluetooth handsfree and to get a Parrot separately was more expensive than getting it incorporated into the unit.

So that's $1500ish?
Any other brand names to consider? Other than Pioneer/Kenwood/Alpine/JVC/Eclipse?

The one that died is an Eonon made in Hong Kong. There are alot of them sold on ebay but i bought mine off their website. After my experience, id steer clear of all cheap Chinese branded ones and ebay ones, unless its a well known brand that is being sold second hand for good reasons.

The 3250BT is $749 and without the Bluetooth, the 3150DVD is $569. Very competitive prices in my books.

Yea most 2din units are DVD players unless you go with something similar to what Shiv had in his gen2. That was a Clarion unit which looked great in the Liberty with the green illumination

Sorrry forgot about your question earlier, I dont personally use wiring harness's though I have seen them at JBHiFi for about $15. I use these. Its a neat and simple way of connecting wires together without having to solder/head shrink anything together which has proved very useful more than once - like when i had to unistall a dea Eonon!! And when my sister wrote off her car and i had to uninstall the week old headunit that i installed ..a week ago :P

Here are the specs:

I've done the costings of it and all up its going to cost just a shade over $1500 including installation. Just waiting to get my car back from the shop to start doing this.

Other brand names? If your looking to go all out, Eclipse has a brilliant "AVN" series which is receiving rave reviews. And its genuinely good value for money compared with the other brands out there.

Not if you don't have them to begin with.

Fancy wheel nuts are not a mod, they are a waste of $400.

I have to admit, if I had a car worthy enough of those items, I'd splash that sort of money on them in an instant.

I know Mark spent quite a bit on wheel nuts as well, on his Legacy if you check out his build thread. Nothing wrong with it - nothing but the best for our cars...

Ferrari 458 recall

The fix will apparently see the wheel-arch liners fastened more securely, and Autocar reports that those unlucky owners who lost their 458s to flames will have their cars replaced, free of charge.

Hey Morgan,

Did you hear they recalled all the Series 2 Gen 3 outbacks?
They realised they made them too grandfatherish and they want to make them cooler.
