What did you do when you replaced your headunit with the FM antenna cable?
Did you just buy an extension and use the male plug, or get some kind of adapter?

Bought this adaptor. $12 from JB.
However, the Eonon carked it before I ever used it so it is still sitting in its box waiting for the next HU I buy!

They are just as good at making Audio equipment as "Soniq" are at making TV's.
They are a Supercheap special brand, but good for adapters and what not.

Cant vouch for them as I haven't used it yet...plus it also says it works for Datsun Nissan. Hopefully for Subaru too

I have an car iPhone charger and another adapter from them, seem to work fine. They haven't started any fires yet...
