The reason you get scammed over east is because like a lot of things over east, it's been Americanised. I believe there are three pint sizes in the world today, two in America (something like 470mL which is what I got at most places through NSW/VIC/SA - that is called a US 'flowing pint' I'm pretty sure, or fluid maybe... like a fluid ounce (ahhemm.) - then you have the DRY pint which is closer to 550, but being a dry pint, it's not a measure for beer. Then. THEN. You have a REAL BRITISH PINT, which is used throughout the UK and is 568ml.

I have literally no idea how they managed to convince people over east that it is a good idea to use the AMERICAN measurement system instead of an imperial british measure? Soon you guys will be saying Aluminum too!

Yeah, but there's a cost factor involved. I often get a winging traveler telling me how expensive a pint is in WA, when people fail to understand that it's 20% more expensive because you get 20% MORE FUCKING BEER.

You know what really shits me is the gradual taking over of the "schmiddy" at pubs and clubs. Not quite a schooner but more than a middy. That alone is OKAY (albeit unnecessary), but the problem is when you ask for "A beer", and they give you a schmiddy at schooner prices. The average punter wouldn't spot it because it feels like a schooner in hand and costs about the same. Bit of a rort I reckon...

It's a constant rip off. It's also largely to do with the 1 std.drink per serving that was trying to be brought in across the board, a LOT of people bought new glassware because the Rudd/Gillard team scared people into thinking it was actually a law. You might remember a lot of hoo haa about clubs/pubs/ME having to have glasses that have lines printed on them, AND for them to be batch calibrated (making for the most expensive glassware you could possibly imagine!) - it all seems to have gone by the wayside.... ?

but yeah being dead serious - the place we were at this week had the EXACT same size pint as WA - It's an Irish pub.

I also remember you saying at one place in the city Nik that they also serve proper sized pints - one of the ones Shiv couldnt finish haha
