Interesting.
How do they explain the testing of an object they know is a few years old but C14 says its millions of years old?

I dont know the science of it all... In the end we'll all know the truth one way or another!

I do know of scientists that were defiant Atheists and devoted their whole lives to proving the Bible wasn't true, only to become Christians and realise there is nothing they can fault.
I believe the scientists that believe in Evolution/Big Bang, etc have too much pride to believe in the Bible...

If other theories do exist, explain this -
If the Earth was 1mm further away from the sun, or 1mm closer, we would freeze/burn to death respectively.
Thats why we cant live on other planets without protective suits...

Maybe not stopped trying, but if you imbreed anything it will come out deformed.

Humans lived for 100's of years?

We live longer than ever before, hence the problems we have with old age now.
Why do girls get their period (can reproduce) so early? why do they menopause?

Hormones in our food and hereditary genetics are the reason girls get their period, and boys grow facial hair so early these days!

We are living alot longer than we could care to remember, but thats only becuase God has limited our life expentancy after we sinned...
His intent was that we were to live FOREVER! Crazy I know but that what was planned..

Noah was 950 when he died
Seth was 912 (Adams third son after Cain killed Abel)
Moses was only 120 - because he broke the 10 commandments in anger, God took him early!
Adam was 930

Wow theres so much I don't know about Christianity....and I spent over a decade at an Anglican school that preached Christianity! We actually had "Christian Studies" classes once a week which was mandatory right through to Year 12. Although in Year 12, I had the Liberty so I made it less mandatory for me :P

Haha! We had Hungry Jacks runs which happened to be at the same time as our Christian Development classes!

At school they never really go into much detail. Its worth looking into though and discovering what you believe in.

Girls were getting their period early before GM foods and hormones, in times past it was common for girls to become mothers in their teens.

How did they measure time back then?

What about Nun's and priests etc that devote their whole lives to Jesus/God but don't live any longer than the rest of us?

Why do infants die? before they've had any chance to sin?

Why do rapist and peadophiles survive?

I make no other comment than.... The earth actually does get closer and further from the sun during its eliptical orbit (the actual distance to the sun varies by several million km during one orbit of the sun), it also rotates on its axis by several degrees each hundred thousand years or so - second to that we are in fact moving closer to the sun each time we orbit it, albiet at a slow rate. there is lots or reading out there to be done :D
I can't remember any of the specific distances etc but I am sure if you are interested enough to look you will find it.

Yeah, me too. I think there's alot bout alot of religions that alot of people (myself included) don't understand.

At school they never really go into much detail. Its worth looking into though and discovering what you believe in.

Or what parts of which. I don't see why people can't just have an open mind. Nothing from history pre camera/video can be proven without a doubt, religious or otherwise.

Nik, please post cars.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO, an actual disscussion in the GT!?!? WTF is goin on? :sarcastic:

That's the thing Buzz. All the conversions etc. could be well out, 900 years could be 20 for all we know.

Oh boy!

Girls were getting their period early before GM foods and hormones, in times past it was common for girls to become mothers in their teens.
Girls get their periods at 12/13 these days. Bodies haven't properly formed yet but its always possible to have babies early. Just socailly unaccepted...and so it should be!

How did they measure time back then?
The sun... ?! Lol i dunno!

What about Nun's and priests etc that devote their whole lives to Jesus/God but don't live any longer than the rest of us?
Everyone is human. All human's sin. Their 'righteousness' isn't worth anymore life than your average joe who goes to church on Christmas and Easter.

Why do infants die? before they've had any chance to sin?
It's not Gods fault they've died. Nor is it their parents. Our time on Earth is limited. God has a plan for everyone and sometimes it's only a very short life.
Sometimes it is about the repercussions though. Do you remember the story a few months ago about Kundai? Hurt in a footy match in Sydney and died in his sleep the next day after the hosp turned him away? It was all over the news. He was a born again Christian and went to the church my Uncle Pastors as Petersham. There were 700 people at his funeral. Thats nothing to the hundreds of thousands, maybe millions who heard what happened. One 17 year old may have lost his life but sooo many people heard about his belief and where he is now.

Why do rapist and peadophiles survive?
God still loves them. He has given them freewill and they have ruined it. Consquence of their actions? Prison, diseases, humiliation, in extreme circumstances, death. In our justice system, we have to give them a fair trial (innocent until proven guilty) but in many other cultures and in olden days, they were simply stoned to death!

If they used moon cycles as years (one full moon to the next) which would've been the most obvious long term time measurement, 12 moon cycles in a year. 969 devided by 12 = 80.75 yrs. Which would be believable.

Sorry, 1mm out of orbit!

Dude... no.

I will leave you guys on your religious debate and happy to say each to their own but when it comes to something I am passionate about like physics and astromomy :drinks:

^
means we need to have drinks rather than debate it :P

I will add that if our rotational speed was to change we could be flung into the sun/out of orbit... that would suck

Why don't they get their period after their body is ready? TBH I think it's the actual pregnancy that readies their bodies.
My missus got her period at 10, I met her when she was 15, her body shape never changed until she got pregnant at 19.

How did they measure time back then?
The sun... ?! Lol i dunno!
I worked that one out , the moon.

But he made the call.
Why do rapist and peadophiles survive?
