I know what you mean Alex, my iPod/iPhone cable for my headunit was sixty something dollars. Works fine with the 3G iPhone and iPod.It sucks balls. But this is how the clever people at apple make you buy the proprietary equipment to continue to make your HU work.

One crude option is that you get a convertor which allows you to plug in your regular power cords into 12V convertor so you can utilse the 12V cig lighters you would have in your wagon. I have one and on occation its allowed me to charge my phone up before going out at night. But ideally Pioneer will upgrade the firmware to be compatible with the newer models. Don't hold your breath for it though.

Its not a firmware (software) upgrade. Its purely hardware according to my research.
ebay sell these units but i'd rather DIY for a neater install.
