Each to their own I say when it comes to visiting overseas.Fiji sucks. Unless your a mad surfer and are going to spend the whole time in the waves, then it is just a poor arse island with not much to do - the main land anyway. Apparently the smaller outer islands are a nice place to just chill out though
Personally I have no interest in visiting any poor arse countries like Thailand or Vietnam etc.
I would prefer to chill out Germany or Italy.
Maybe even London if I could get drunk enough to drown out the whinging poms
They may be archaic, handle like crap, no brake feel etc but man you got to love the brutal simplicity of the old 5.0L with a bit of work.Jsust took my cousins new VS BT1 for a drive. Pretty wicked sounding v8. Has some work done to it, and it has a 3000rpm stally. Awesome fun to drive, but fuel is ridiculous. Speaking of fuel, how ridiculous are the prices today. 1.57 for BP ultimate.
Cheers,
Shazza

For shame Australia, for shame. Asking your population to throw money in a tin instead of using government money, all those fucking dollars the fucktard Labor government spent barely changing anything could very well be used right now couldn't it? Arsehat fucks.
$1.57 for Ultimate is a fucking SWEET deal by the way.

Just incase they missed your post first time round I might add it a second time!I refuse to go to Bali, Europe is way too expensive, and I wanted to go to Whitsunday but it's just so forking expensive. I honestly believe they should be subsidising cheap flights to QLD so we can go and spend money in the state. But no, it's still cheaper to fly to Fiji than it is to fly to the Gold Coast.

Europe is expensive but I would love to go check it out.. I hear you on Bali though - I couldnt think of anything worse than that.

Agreed with the above. Gold Coast tourism has just had an almost 100% international cancellation. We are no where near the floods but people overseas don't realise the distance between Brisbane and here, they just assumed we are next door and cancelled. Government could easily work with the airlines, etc. and boost some local tourism to make up the numbers.

Any of you dudes ever been to Fiji? Thinking of heading there next month.

the thing is, poor has nothing to do do with what you can see or what you can experience in a foreign country. I've been to thailand 8 times, Laos. Vietnam, Brunei, Dubai, Germany (3 times), Belgium, Austria (3 times), Czech republic, Netherlands, France (4 times), England, USA, Canada, Mexico, Fiji, Noumea, New Caledonia, Bali and New Zealand. It depends on how you do your holiday and what you want to get from it. Some of my best trips have been in the so called "poor arse" countries. If you want to be a typical tourist then yeah it can be kinda sleezy but if you have any kind of sense of adventure then you can have an amazing experience, far more memorable than say a visit to jolly old imo.
Personally i like being a bit out of my comfort zone (not to be mistaken with being uncomfortable) when i go over seas. I like the cultural experience of traveling so don't really see why so many people go to say england. it's not that dissimilar to Australia except the weather is worse and they have a strong accent. I enjoy the language challenges and cultural differences. it really makes you appreciate what an amazing and diverse world we live in.
I guess everyone likes to holiday differently but personally i like the adventure a holiday in the unknown can provide.
I do agree that Europe's amazing and i can't recommend it more highly but at the same time, you can have just as much of an experience closer to home or for much less money. Europe's a expensive holiday. My last trip to Germany cost me $16,000
if you go to Fiji steer clear of Nadi where all the tourist spots etc are. The other side of the island is beautiful and not as sleezy and dirty as the typical tourist side. There's not heaps to do but it is great for relaxing/recharging etc. Again i'm not sure what you want from your holiday but i like beautiful scenery, quad bikes, jet ski's, scuba diving, poolside cocktails and nice restaurants which is all available. If you can afford somewhere like Namoutu then you'll be kicking it in a really island paradise in real island style.
Same can be said of Bali. A lot of the tourist spots like Kuta are dirty, sleezy and generally not what i like from a holiday but if you head to the other side of the island there's some really amazing spots to be found. I agree though that it's probably gone to far and i wouldn't be going there in a hurry that's for sure. Tourism has pretty much destroyed that place in one way or another.
obviously it's each to their own but i'd at least do your homework and research before ruling out options. you may miss something if you dismiss it due to assumption or by being misinformed.
