The Cannonball Run Rat Race – The World’s Most Infamous Car Rally is finally arriving ‘Down Under’ in 2012.

Commencing February 19, 2012, 60 cars will start from Brisbane in a 3000 kilometer driving adventure like no other. It’s with great pleasure we can finally announce our plans in bringing the Cannonball Run Rat Race to the Australian shores.

The objective of this event is to crack a secret code. This secret code will gain you access to a locker. In this locker you will find a briefcase full of cash. Crack all the codes from each checkpoint to reveal the location of the hidden locker and win the ultimate prize! The beauty is were the only car rally that has a cash prize for the winners.

Entrants will be stopping in various cities each night to enjoy the infamous Cannonball Run parties. Have a read through our previous events here to catch up on all our antics! The route will be a closely guarded secret as always.

All 60 cars and their drivers will meet in Brisbane for the Rat Race pre launch party on 18th February. Race day starts the following morning with an adrenaline fueled send off….Cannonball style!"

I have a few speeding fines under my name but in my defence they are all Needle width errors... i.e. 63 in a 60 zone in a holden boatwithdoor.. depending on which device you are detected with they can ping you with for as little as 1km/h over the allowed variance of 3% upto 4km/h so you can get stung for 105km in a 100 zone (fine listed as 104) 1 point $149 bucks or in my case 65 in a 60zone taken down to 63.. 3 times now! 3 of which were in said commondore.

i mean yes, i speed sometimes, and if i get caught doing it fine, its usually those stupid 70km/h roads that used to be 80 but have been downgraded to 70.. i hate 70 zones, just make it 60ffs!

i got stung doing 82 in a 70 zone... got pulled over, asked me how fast i was going, i said 80 maybe 85, (thinking here we go, get stung for some stupid small amount again)... nope, get stung for 12km/h over!!! stupid 70 zone on a downhill on the highway between 2 80 zones.. yep, it slows to 70 for about 1km (down and up the dip) then back to 80... FFS

all those camera locations just go to show its revenue raising.. i know personally that many of those locations are just after a speed change! and unlike other states, they don't have to put a sign up or anything... its just PING your done!
i like to know where they are so that i can purposely slow down UNDER the limit around there so i don't get stung again... im sick of it.

I dissagree on the hatred of 70 zones, I would much rather be doing 70 than 60. I fucking hate with a passion the dumbcunt council back up home who made a few Km of road before coming into town a 50 zone...used to be 70 which was ok but 50 is far too slow, far far far to slow.

Do the radars these days have cameras in them so they dont have to chase after you?
I may have been done for the first time last Thursday when I drove the Rex...
Was cruising at 120 on the F3 and spotted a cop on a motorbike with a radar gun... He didn't give me a second glance though so hopfully I'm ok...

that section should be 60 then
40 should be for... road works between 7sm and 4pm Unless noted otherwise because the council does not need me slowing down to 40km/h at 10pm when NOBODY IS WORKING and there should be no scheduled road works during peak times! and school times should be 40 during school start and finish as it is and 50 all other times unless the road is arterial then it can return to previous speed.
25 zones should be for high incident or high risk school crossings (not zones but ACTUAL CROSSINGS) ( i like S.A. for this reason, 25 zones for school crossings is good imo
60 zones are most streets not built-up,
50 for built-up areas/residential
70.. DIE
80 for major arterials
90 should die also, but not as much as 70, 90 has its place when going through rural towns where flying through at 100 means you are not really paying attention, 90 atleast makes you change your speed which makes you alert.
100 should be all highways
110 should be all freeways that have a physical barrier (or wide grass strip) between opposing directions of traffic.
and open country roads where there are low wildlife risks and good road conditions should be open speed (i.e. 140) i myself would only cruise at 120 but having that bit of room to allow for the occasional rise in terrain that requires a bit of juice, it would be nice to cruise up to it at 140 and then slow to 100 going up and then return to 120 again. i bet trucks would love it too... don't you hate being stuck behind one that wasn't able to get a bit of a run towards a slight increase and because of that has to slow to 80 or less to make it up.
this should be written into all state laws and that's how it should be.. nation wide, all the same.
