They are loving the overlay maps on the news sites lately aren't they.. like a kid with a new toy.

yeah it's Masiff i saw on the weather report this morning that they say its going to travel in as far as Alice Springs with rain and flooding expected along the way...

I blame the kid with the big death ray for making Mother Nature angry.

Nik, pretty good idea that is.. but myself i can never buy anything but Samsung, Known brand and awesome quality. i had all of these at one stage... a Sammy TV, Fridge, Washing Machine, Monitor, Microwave,Phone

And as stupid as it is, because of such good experiences with all those devices i will probably stick to using them, brand loyalty at its best, might be a bit more expensive but i am honestly happy to pay the extra (and im usually a tight arse)

What does 'smh' stand for? So many homos? Or what?

Homie, they are pretty much all Samsung panels anyway.

40" Full HD LED* TV with PVR (Samsung Panel) - Starting at ONLY $559

Yeah, nah. On US forums a lot of people say 'smh'... Not related to the paper - I always think that in my head though.

Yeah but the panel is only half the package... its not often that the panel gives up on TV's anyway, usually its the supporting electronics, things like the tuner, the display module, internal amp/component switching. all that kinda stuff, which is where they cut the costs on these lesser brands.

not saying they are shit, hell i have heard heaps of good things about kogan but they are feature poor compared to the bigger brands, and myself those are the selling points on TV's now days
oh and don't get caught out on the LED craze! most "LED" tv's are actually only "Edge lit" which means banks of LED's that illuminate the panel from the sides.

It's only when you get the the higher range of the models (series 7-8 in samsung) that you have full LED spread where there are banks of LEDs across the back of the whole panel that can be switched independently to allow for dynamic contrast such as looking down a train tunnel all the sides of the screen are bright to show the sunlight areas and then deep in the middle of the screen the LED's are turned down/off to make the Black even deeper.

SMH: Acronym for 'shake my head' or 'shaking my head.' Usually used when someone finds something so stupid, no words can do it justice

Samsung don't do backlit LEDS. 7,8 and even 9 series are all edgelit. The only back lit LCD I could find was made by LG and also one model of Sony. Full backlit only makes a minor difference anyway.
Also the other big thing that makes a difference is the quality of the software that controls all the lights and refresh rate and stuff.

Yep 55" Bravia LED LCD. Its awesome. Best quality screen on the market IMO. Except for the Sharp Quattro 60" LED. That telly was wicked but out of budget

What's the point of 3d telly? I would only watch 3d movies of anything, so a 3dbray player is going to be fine for me. Don't need 3d tv for that as br player does the fancy stuff
