Was it one of these, Jase?

The Linamint LC XU-1 or the GTR-X? :)

How I wish Holden had built the GTR-X.

They got canned at the time for not producing it.

That pic looks like Holden corporate HQ here in Melb.

If I told you I was a compulsive liar, would you believe me?

Did they produce the tooling or was it a real one off?

I thought there was a couple of them.

I'm pretty sure there's one in Birdwood motor museum.

Doesn't look that clean to be honest.

Off some random website:
1 at Birdwood
1 rumoured to be private collector in England
1 rumoured to still be around in a state of disrepair according to the pics I recieved recently
Old guy has all the production body molds too to make new panels/bodies

I believe, correct me if I'm wrong, that the silver one at Birdwood was sent back to GMH (they own it) and restored to its original condition including the white paint and is now on display at GMH HQ at Fishermens Bend Melb.
The Hurricane is still at Birdwood?

There was a second one produced but it was stripped and the body dumped. There is a pic taken in the 70's of the stripped shell sitting in some sort of holding yard.

Holden produced two versions of sales brochures (black and purple IIRC) and an engineering description book (I have both :)) but never produced the production tooling. Basically the marketing was completed but not the production. It was canned by management as being too expensive.

I think the second shell still exists, is privately owned and resides in Gippland Vic.

EDIT: Just read your post Walts. That's how I remember seeing it at Birdwood many many years ago.
As far as the mould existing; I haven't made up my mind yet.

Random pics of GMHs other effort from the late 60's early 70's.

The 1969 Hurricane.

Rear drive, mid mount 253 and a video reversing camera instead of mirrors.

This also came up with a search of the Hurricane but it is actually the engine bay of the GTR-X in its current restored form.
Same engine/gearbox/diff as the LC XU-1.

The Hurricane was a car that should have been put to race duties.

LOL, that little bit is designed to be jacked up by the jack they supply you with, you will notice there is a gap in the middle that the (now bent up) tab bit slots into... if using that type of jack you don't jack it up on the rails, find something solid further under the car.
