Seriously?? Not a B man myself, and was never into lolly water. But hey free piss is free piss!!!

I was joking. haha

Our conference room fridge is usually stocked full of Coopers Pale, Golden ale, Superdry and Boags. Heaps of cartons each week because there's about 120 that work there.

Not bad for free drinks on a Friday arvo. :)

Nothing wrong with crazes when they are as harmless as planking. Or shuffling.

Everyday I'm shuffling.

Subyclub planking thread?

Just had a call from the old bloke I hit, $2.5k worth of damage????? Apparently I pushed the grill into the radiator, which has also damaged the fans - however he managed to drive it home. It is an Astra. My bumper just has a dent in it! Told him to get 2 other quotes and not to tell them its for insurance - as if he was fixing it, if he can't get it under $1.5k I'll be getting my insurance onto it - I don't think he is insured.

Seriously I barely nudged him! Either that or my B4 is a tank. Even the police officer that contacted me said it was just a bent bumper.. he'll have to try real hard to rip me off. I'll get my bumper sorted, but he'll need to take me to court to get that much out of me - will have got insurance onto it by that stage.

I'm sorry, but I absolutely loathe your pisspoor attitude regarding this.

You're not a panelbeater.

Neither is the police officer.

Why aren't you settling this through insurance? Why isn't there a paper trail of everything that's happening?

This is leaving you absolutely wide open for legal ramifications that could be disastrous.

What if he turns around and claims medical issues?

Court isn't fun.

I have no problem with it, I will do what has to be done to fix his car. I already told him that. However from the very start of it he has been dodgy about it. Claiming I moved his car I hit it so hard. Also yes I have called my insurance company tonight, and they will be looking into it - I am just concerned that because it happened in a carpark, they may not cover it through some weird loophole - $2.5k is a hard hit right now.

I do not believe he is insured - he has not once mentioned insurance to me, and sounds in his 60's. But I have clearly stated that I do have insurance, and will use it if we need it - hoping he will give me a fair go - because it cannot possibly be that bad with the damage done to my bumper. My father reckons I should get 3 quotes done - then approach my insurance with it. The problem is I haven't seen the damage to his car, so he can say anything. It is a shitty situation.

You're making an assumption about my personality and I don't like that, been through it already today with this guy assuming I did a hit and run. My father has spoken to the police (that is how they contacted me) and the police here don't want anything to do with it, the officer basically told me to pass my details onto him as quick as possible, and I did that as soon as I got his number.

I don't assume anything of anybody.

i just run with what you tell me.

rule NUMBER ONE: ASSUME NOTHING. It's the mother of all fudge ups.

Every bastard out there is going to try and backpedal out of anything in terms of an accident. No one will be honest unless you have them by the balls.

It's thousands of dollars we're talking here. No one is going to give this out by feeling generous or good willed. We live in a shi77y world. This is why we have insurance. To protect ourselves from scumbags, no matter how well you perceive them.

I hope you don't have to learn the hard lessons.

Perhaps you do.

Who knows.

Hi,

Simple and plain, plain and simple - you have insurance - you should use it. If he doesn't have insurance, your insurance company will sort it out. If he really doesn't have insurance, they hate it, because like a Kangaroo, broke people can't pay - so they will make it difficult.

Seriously, there is no loophole for a public use carpark.

From what you've told us, you had the stereo up very loud and didn't realise that you'd collided with another car. You left the scene, so whether or not I think you're a good bloke, you left the scene of an accident - which is quipped into 'hit and run' by people.

Call your insurance company. Get it sorted. Cop the premium. Accept that some of us on here might just have been through this before.

Cheers,
Nik

+++ The longer you take to claim with your insurance the harder you will make this for yourself.

Haha, well I try not to make mistakes. I filed the claim already. It is only going to set me back a grand.

It was more his attitude that got me a little worked up, I only just now had time to get the rest of his details and start the process. Coincidentally the news mentioned a statistic that claims are statistically higher on Friday 13th... was not the only fail today, we missed a meeting with a client because of a crash on the freeway.
