Hi,

My son recently bought a 2005 Impreza and loves it.

However, the CEL is on, and the previous owner mentioned it was due to fitting a pod filter (and I assumed this was due to disconnecting the MAF sensor)

I can't seem to locate the MAF, so was wondering if these engines originally had one?

Cold starts seem to take quite a while, but hot starts are instantaneous.  Would this be MAF related?

I've attached a couple of photos, so I'm hoping someone might be able to tell me where the MAF is (or should be), please.

If there was a MAF originally, I'd like to reinstall it.  Does anyone know of a supplier of a short pipe (with MAF connection) before the pod air filter?

Also, could y'all advise an OBD code reader please?

Many thanks for your time

Cheers

Welcome to the forum cheezels,

I think that model Impreza had a MAP sensor setup. That pod is either messing with the sensor or it’s missing a sensor that’s located in the factory air box just above the throttle body.

Cheers

Thanks Bennie

I was just reading that some engines had MAP and some had MAF.  Just trying to figure out what this engine is supposed to have.

There is a MAP sensor underneath spark plug lead no.2 though.

So, does this mean there would never have been a MAF sensor?

If you PM me your vin number I can check the parts catalogue.

Most of the turbo cars had mafs, and early NA cars.
