Hi guys,

Its been months since the last update to this thread so I figured I'd show you how project OUTBACK is going.

Some of you might recall me complaining about lack of braking performance? A week or two after, I got myself a set of brakes off a late model Gen4 GT. Problem solved. I think that was mainly due in part to change of fluids, pads etc but its always nice to have bigger brakes.

316mm 2-pot fronts, 294mm rears:

^Thinking I'll probably paint the calipers black as they're looking a little sad at the moment.

Not a mod, but this is my 14L fridge. Had it for about 6-months now as some of you have seen. Great little unit!

Mud guards for the front:

And finally, I got these nice looking LED tails a couple months ago. All in one unit including the indicators.

Mods to come:
Strut brace (I've gotta pick up off Chris)
Roof racks (thanks Sam!)
Nudge bar
Single DIN built in UHF radio + antenna
New speakers

Cool. *see what I did there*

Did you run the power wire back to the battery?

If I told you I was a compulsive liar, would you believe me?

OK.

Might be worth checking the current draw of the fridge to see if the OEM wiring is up to it.

Cheers,

Got them off IM. There's Buy It Now for like $500 but I got mine No Reserve for a lot less.

Interesting...

Not usually a fan of those but colour coded to match your bumper isn't too bad.

Kinda blends it in a little.

Nice work :)

I agree, the factory black plastic finish doesn't look great....especially with age! That's why I had it colour-coded to the front bar.

Question mate - what under-the-seat-sub are you running? I'm thinking of doing the same to free up my boot...

I also think this thread needs an update :P

CB I hear?

Hey Morgs,

I run two of them. One under the drivers seat, and one under the passenger.

They're Fusion CP-AS1080's. They're 8" inch subs, rated at 300W each. So 600 all up.

Not bad little units they are. But I do miss my big sub in the Lib!

This threads a tad dusty. My car now has a GME radio and Uniden antenna:

I also got a neat fascia kit so it converts the unit into a single DIN slot:

I also got some genuine Outback rubber floor mats for a steal off eBay, and a set of Rhino Sportz roof racks because the Subaru ones I bought off Sam weren't compatible with some toys I'm hoping to mount on the roof.

And on Friday I got a brand new Varex muffler fitted and installed under warranty. On Tuesday, some replacement splash guards....

Yeh I'm going to get some pics up when I get a chance.

Problem with the motor that controls the valve. Just real happy they sorted it out with no problems whatsoever :)

Picked up these Rhino roof racks on eBay:

Bought this nifty little Rhino attachment to mount my sand flag on instead of running through the sunroof like I normally do :P

Attached File  IMG_0734 (Custom).JPG   57.5KB   0 downloads

Here is my GME CB radio:

Attached File  IMG_0740 (Custom).JPG   66.7KB   0 downloads

Attached File  IMG_0744 (Custom).JPG   51.23KB   0 downloads
Attached File  IMG_0743 (Custom).JPG   63.64KB   0 downloads

And my Uniden antenna which Adam recommended (thanks Adam!)

Attached File  22012012151 (Custom).jpg   57.25KB   0 downloads
Attached File  22012012152 (Custom).jpg   61.09KB   0 downloads

I also got replacement inner splash guards as my old ones went missing :P

Attached File  28012012171 (Custom).jpg   42.69KB   0 downloads

I did a massive detail on the interior. Photos don't do justice to a nice clean smelling interior but here ya go:

Attached File  IMG_0725 (Custom).JPG   73.82KB   0 downloads
Attached File  IMG_0726 (Custom).JPG   63.41KB   0 downloads
Attached File  IMG_0729 (Custom).JPG   63.19KB   0 downloads
Attached File  IMG_0730 (Custom).JPG   60.82KB   0 downloads

And finally some random pics from the weekend:

Attached File  IMG_0714 (Custom).JPG   147.45KB   0 downloads
Attached File  IMG_0711 (Custom).JPG   160.08KB   0 downloads
Attached File  05022012194 (Custom).jpg   100.72KB   0 downloads

All is going well with the Outback.

It has developed a slight oil leak though. Just cooks on the top of where the exhaust starts. Nothing major though. I just give it a clean every 6-8 weeks or so...
