I have no issue with them blocking certain websites as long as the list of blocked sites is released publicly and the reason it's decided it needs to be blocked is released.

I'm all for censoring fscked up websites, but my problem is, who has the right to decide what i can and cant view?

I put up with people from amnesty, red cross and now the cancer council almost daily hounding me!! Throw in the greens, green peace, unhcr, save the forking children and I've well and truly hit my limit for the number of fuckstains wanting me to sign something or give money. Seriously cubts,right off.

Lexi, we all know geeks will find ways around it in the future anyway, right now they are blocking the most disgusting sites possible and i support it, but in the future they'll get more brave and start blocking political pages, anything that goes against the Govt or certain corporations, and then we may see a CHina style google search, where certain events are unsearchable. I doubt it'll get that far in Aus, but that's the worse case scenario.
Also French President said at the G8 summit that they need internet filters and that his country will be working on one.

We're policed in society everyday and we don't even notice it, the internet is an extension of society, it is not it's own stand alone 'world', people have to realise this. The amount of cyber-bullying is ridiculous, the way in which people act behind a keyboard etc is out of hand, I am all for a monitroping of internet, it doesn't mean your local cops will know everytime you're on redtube, but it does mean they'll know when the guy next door is a pedophile a lot quicker and easier. It also cuts a medium out for this sex slave traders and ruins part of their business if whole countries can deny them access, therefore slowing the trade and helping the young girls who are abducted and raped for internet videos.
Stop fcuking thinking about yourselves and start thinking about the far reaching objectives of these filters.

Yeah I do believe there is a massive problem, but I believe a lot of this child porn crap is traded offline, via DVD and flash sticks etc.... Most likely watched on offline computers.
Filter won't stop that! Perhaps we just execute offenders on the spot
