Lol. Dude, what are you going to retire on?

I make voluntry contributions to my super every year, which NAB matches. Super is so important.

Super is bullshit and I completely disagree with it being compulsory, it is just a bad investment, I would rather the money up front to invest in what I wish... not leave it to decay during every financial meltdown the world experiences.

What you don't realise is though, that once you've jumped to start it, it actually shoots out minijetpacks, which then ignite pushing my jump pack up.

So until you get a jetpack that is propelled by mini jetpacks jetpacking their way to jetpack land, go Posted Image yourself.

I manage my own super fund so some other rookie with a bit of paper as a degree doesn't piss it all down the drain on my behalf.

I disconnect my battery if I'm not going to drive for a week.

That's a smart idea

Not really.

Everytime you connect/disconnect you run the risk of a voltage spike which can fry electronic modules.

Better to invest in a 'float charger'. This will charge the battery (above 13v) then once charged it will hold a float charge (about 12.6v).
The battery will remain fully charged and is far less likely to 'sulphate' and die. Lead acid batteries fail if left discharged for long periods of time.

Besides, a week is stuff all.
A month would be more like it.

If I told you I was a compulsive liar, would you believe me?

Self managed super fund FTW.

I'm just with the one my company goes to but my old man does all his own stuff. He sat us down the other night and went through the updated folder/s which hold all the info about the business, investments, life insurance, etc when if he suddenly dies. Man it's going to be an absolute nightmare trying to work it all out!

'Osh - yes, you would probably be able to invest it into something now and get a decent return when you're 65+ but not everyone would... Actually, the majority would lose it all and have nothing to live on for the last 30-40 years of their life!

Fair call, though a lot of people who don't have a lot of financial knowledge and left super to do its bit have already lost a lot.
Dad has some super from the early days which has halved in value, he no longer pays himself any, neither does Mum, so many better ways to invest it.
Mums parents are self funded retirees and they are going aight, Neither of them have a single bit of super.

I probably should self manage my super but man, I have enough issues keeping up with my own investments sometimes haha.
