In QLD with the power/weight exemption, the <98 WRX and i think 04 onward WRX are within the limit [125kw/tonne] so you could apply for an exemption.
Pretty cool.

@Ren: I'm fairly sure they won't give you an exemption on a car you've purchased since the law was introduced, you need to prove you already owned the car in the family or similar. But you were saying it's pretty relaxed over there.
