So Im out with the family and about to do a U turn on a 3 lane road (80 limit) with a designated U turn lane. There is a line of about 4 cars facing me making a U turn opposite to me.
As I was approacing the U turn lane I noticed that (what appeared to be) there was no oncoming traffic in any lane. I slow down to make the turn and at the last minute see a motorbike travelling in the right lane. I hit the brakes, stopping with the nose of the car 1/3 into the lane, he locks the rear and slides a bit but when he realises there is no collision he backs off and sails on past.
I wind down the window and he pulls alongside.
I start with "Sorry mate. I used to ride so I know what it's like"
He replies "Im an off duty cop and if you'd hit me you'd be
'ing dead"
Yes I was about to pull out in front of him but (as I used to do) he really should be in the centre lane for a better view of side traffic.
Either way I didn't appreciate his attitude or the langauge he used in front of my two little kids.

Thinking about it, I believe he was a random knob rather than a cop.

I put up with people from amnesty, red cross and now the cancer council almost daily hounding me!!
