I know that down here, as long as you have a full drivers licence, then you should only have to go through them. If you don't have a licence at all then you would have to do the course

as well as go through tests at the RTA.

There is a pre-learners test (practical). You have to pass it before you go to the RMS.

 

RMS is a theory test (same as your L's in a car).

 

Pretty sure you have to have your L's for a minimum of 6 months then you can take your P's test. That's the full day course (you see them riding around in their yellow vests!)

 

If you're over 25 and have a full drivers licence, you can go straight to your full riders licence otherwise there is a green P's step.

 

Can't remember what is actually involved to get your full licence.

But Adam - Moto L's is easy (I did mine years ago, but the process is the same) got to something like stay upright and complete the training day - after you completely that, rock up at the RMS (RTA) and do the online test, which is piss easy.

Getting your L's/P's now starts the clock ticking on your full license, that way if you decide you want your big boy bike in 5 years you can jump straight on.
