Hi guys
Having sold my B4 and deciding to move on to something larger and more singular
This is my new whip
A White 2001 MY01 GT Forester Non-Luxury (no sunroof or heated seats)
Purchased 13/2/2014 in Armidale NSW
The car had 136,500 kms on it and was bog stock bar some old tint which was a bit ratty
The outside and inside needed some love after being owned by a farming family originally and then a family in town, the plus side of this is that the car has been maintained mechanically extremely well.
I organised to see the car after speaking to the owner about my budget and decided to make the trip from Newcastle.
Cam, Mark and myself all traveled up early on the day to Armidale from Newcastle in Mark's GT (thanks Mark), i brought Cam along with me to help with the mechanical side of inspection (very grateful for this i know some things but not as much as this genius
) and mark came along for the drive and to bring his car home again (which i am also grateful for the lift
)
When we got there the car looked like a 12 year old car on the outside, the owner had provided a list of receipts for all the previous work and parts, this list was very extensive and had had money spent in all the right places, from what Cam could see from his inspection and mechanical tests the only faults were it needed new tires, after a test drive discovered it needed a wheel alignment and it had some small parts of body damage.
After this i decided this was the car for me, decided on a fair price with the owner, signed the papers and handed over the money..... that was it i had my self the car i should have bought 12 months prior to this.
I was well and truly stoked after talking with Cam for many months about it and that GT Foz's would be an awesome car as a replacement for the fiddly B4.
(his car at the time being a prime example swayed me
)
The first Drink of 98 Octane.
Few Armidale Locals halting the drive home mark soon scared them off with the power of the boxer note.

Not even back in Newy and already Foz life
The practicality of a wagon
We got it back to Newy around 3:30pm by 5 pm i had purchased Mobil delvac, oil filter, upper engine cleaner, total fuel cleaner, fuel filter, PVC elbow and down pipe, and some extra bits and pieces needed for a good detail. also pcked up a few other goodies for cam's collection.
That evening i had the lads around for a feed as a thank you for there help, we couldn't resist the urge to mod.
Cam had brought along with him some scratch remover a heat gun and a rubber mallet to attempt to remove a ding in the front right quarter panel... long story short he is multi-talented

BEFORE
AFTER
also that evening we removed the in-guard plastic resonator and fitted a genuine air filter that came with the car and cleaned the AFM while we had the airbox off with contact cleaner and also added a PVC elbow and 2 self tapers for INTAKE POWARR.
For less than $5 it makes an awesome intake noise if that's your cup of tea.
(saturday arvo we added a short length of down pipe which we heated and bell-mouthed to complete the intake)
Mark and I cooking burritos Cam cooking Lipton iced intake
From the engine bay (hole will be covered with sheet metal made up as the NA cover doesn't fit GT's)
From the wheel well
The next day Cam and I along with Mark's supervision took to the car
It got
-Upper engine cleaner
-Belts all removed and inspected
-Oil change with delvac and ryco filter
-Engine bay and under car pressure wash
-Standard shocks swapped out for acquired pedders shocks and HD springs (thanks cam and mark) provided approx 40mm drop over stock height
-XT wheels and tires
-Unbolted the diffback for the lol's only to find it had an upgraded mid section to 2.5" which will be handy until i get a turbo back for the rumble
-Full detail bug and tar remover (WD40 works awesome especially on tar), wash, shammy, clay bar, polish, wax, vacuum
-Phillips blue vision number plate bulbs (don't look too ricer more a warm white than blue)
The outcome of the day was night and day compared to when we picked the car up 30 odd hrs before hand, the only thing missing was a GT badge
Having invested in some tools recently (decent socket and spanner set with breaker bar, hammer, screwdrivers, ratchet spanners, jack stands and jack) helped immensely and meant i didn't need to borrow many things of Cam like normally.
Many thanks to Cam for the day i have learnt so much from him since meeting him at HVC last year and my knowledge has increased every time i work on something with him be it my car or his or someone elses, Cheers mate.
clean all the things
you standard shocks
All the stock bits off ready for a detail.
the finished product of the day getting tyre pressure's checked on its maiden voyage to collect a rear muffler
Saturday it was up early to go check out possible options for cam's next saga of urabus. We filled up and added the total fuel cleaner. On the drive down and back to Sydney and around Sydney looking at 4 cars and a trip to Ichiban i did about 500km to the fuel light which is not bad.
While in Sydney i picked up a GT Badge cam had sourced (again thanks mate) once home it was again time to mod
not sure if sleeper or pov spec N/A
Cam jack of all trades, symmetry ocd at its best
Much better all lined up off looking at Mark's car
Thats how she sits to date mods wise
I have in the post an autometer boost gauge, black silicone y-pipe, led parkers, diamond vision low beam globes, and a magna flow muffler with xforce tip i picked up on friday evening to be put on by the exhaust shop in the next week or so hopefully.
I have solid plans in mind for the car, it will be a long process being a uni student on a budget but ill get there bit by bit slowly to make it my own
I bought this car to have something simpler to work on than a B4 for my mechanical skills, have more space to fit things when i need, be able to have roof racks for my bike or to carry things when needed with out looking to funny and most of all to have another Subaru
Cheers Lachy
