So wheel hubs can go on both sides of the car, they aren't either L or R?

Yeah under WOT but reasonably economical when driven soft.
They were originally designed as a supercharger for a truck. Also, NASA had a 1 rotor engine in each space shuttle used as a generator.
High output for fuel used.
