Hmmm... very interesting! I stand corrected!

Sorry for the Tangent Miguel! I'm keen to see pics of your SPFI - or better yet, meet it in person some time.

Cheers

Finally have some more updates on the RS.
Got all the bits together to run my battery relocation how I wanted. Found a nice marine bulkhead passthrough to run my positive lead into the bay. Tucked up under the dash in a great spot.

With that finally routed through the interior it means I can finally start putting it all back together :D

I have the rubber mat for drivers floor, Just need to stick it back down

That's a super neat trick on the firewall! I wish I knew about that 5 years ago !for my dual battery setup :P

RS is looking good going back together. I'm hoping to be on this band wagon shortly too with mine ;)

Welp I've gone and bought another Legacy...
jENefG1.jpg
3A3scTW.jpg

Very clean, low km well optioned factory sunroof Rev C GT.

Not without it's own issues(are they ever :P) Low comp in one cylinder and the auto flaring into 3rd and reverse at times but overall very tidy and very happy with my purchase. Even came with both the original keys!
So it looks like now Bluey will become parts and this will take over daily duties once I get the mechanicals sussed.

Picked it up yesterday. Spent the weekend doing a little tidy up. Steam cleaned the interior and restored the garnish badges that came on the blue one as this was missing both.

Xfw5M7n.jpg
UMKQAhq.jpg
Tt0FrfY.jpg

Tamiya model paints came up awesome on the badges. 8 coats of clear red, 1 light coat of translucent silver and 2 final coats of flat black. Same 3 step process as they were painted with originally.

Holy crap Miguel, the work on those badges is mint! I might have to pick your brains about how this is done someday unless there's a link or tutorial you can point me in the direction of ;)

Also is this the GT that was on ebay recently? Oddly enough I saw that one on gumtree as an ebay ad (I believe because ebay owns gumtree but I could be wrong there).

Cheers

Bennie

PS: if you're looking at offloading the rims from this pls put me first inline ;)

Yep was on ebay, actually have 3 sets of stock RS rims now so definitely keen to offload one haha. As for painting badges, easy. Sand off all the old paint, put new paint on :P Not much more to it.

Had my first breakdown in the new wagon.. On the way to semi weekly group gen1/2 Legacy chinwag. About 100m from the carpark car completely cut out. rolled up the turning lane then frantically trying to get a hold of one of the boys. Once I did had 10 blokes come out to push it in. Must've been the funniest site to onlookers. Once we got it parked initially suspected fuel pump then accidentally discovered it was the igniter crapping out when we went to shut the bonnet. A mate who lived nearby went and grabbed a heap of spares then after dinner we chucked a new one in and it's been rock solid ever since. :D
yVBgmS7.jpg
Yep, all those cars are stuck behind me, whoops.
bh0v9Wf.jpg
i4KVBMc.jpg
My old car with my new car(Now on SSR Type C's instead of the Rays though)
IFRxrpw.jpg

Aside from that spent today sorting it for roadworthy. Didn't need much and managed to do it all from my stock.

Fixed the horns which were working very weakly. Made a new loom for them which grounds off the body instead of the isolated condenser mounts. Somebody thought that was a good idea haha.
TQe0kVN.jpg
These Italian horns which I'd assume were fitted in Japan are LOUD! Can't wait for someone to cut me off now.
XAnxW6c.jpg
Swapped in the PIAA yellow fog globes from the blue one.
2y7LoZo.jpg
And ripped out the shitty Sony headunit. Surprisingly they hadn't butchered the factory plugs, awesome!
Cy58fp2.jpg
Double awesome, the spare stock CD player I put in its place actually works. WHatever speakers are in it sound great too.

Been a busy few weeks.

Ripped the motor and slushbox out of the white one.

Dz6l1hZ.jpg
PBYdxqj.jpg

Picked up a fairly low K jap RS motor. Complete with all accessories, VF8 and even the OEM Subaru Exedy clutch.

940c1Rv.jpg
szmxTPx.jpg

Gave the new motor a full reseal and timing kit(Bit of trivia, DOHC EJ's and a couple of Audi V6s share timing belts)

Ikvsn8f.jpg
x31sn4l.jpg

Bluey made a great extra workbench

fhE0z8F.jpg
WhHr924.jpg

Ripped box and driveline out of Bluey, shoved it onto the new motor and into whitey(20K will make its way into the RS shortly)

47GXBmR.jpg
ofubnTp.jpg

Said goodbye to Bluey this weekend. Sold the rolling shell for a price I was happy with and it was promptly stripped and scrapped by the new owner. No love lost, it was a very rough example.
mEO2Mxy.jpg
After sorting out some teething issues and what ended up being a cooked ECU I now have a very nice to drive Manual GT :D
3NtbnQk.jpg
SS4yrVg.jpg

Couldn't leave it at monster truck stock height much longer though so chucked in some BG Billies with Pedders springs. Replaced all the swaybar links and installed whiteline ALK at the same time. Handles pretty nice whilst still being nice and comfy.

got an absolute shitload done on the RS this past week.

Made up a bracket to run the GD powersteering res where the stock charcoal canister goes(I've got a small R33 Skyline canister mounted inside the guard now)
C04Dbcj.jpg
YkSeOLs.jpg

Mounted up the GD cooler too. Pretty much bolt on! 2nd gen MAF bracket with one of the captive nuts chopped off made a nice plate for the 2nd mounting point too.
hAu9eTH.jpg
6TFyx7k.jpg

Conversion steering knuckle and RA Spec C quick rack installed.
CpeEHWm.jpg
g8ZC9eg.jpg

All these goodies for the front end.
GUEUuNq.jpg

Jumping around a bit here. Weighed some steel vs composite cam gears, was surprised how big of a difference there is. Decided to leave the composite on the 20K just for throttle response.
Sd63qgu.jpg
exhVdLx.jpg

Fitted up new horns. None of that Hella nonsense for me :P
Ej9hTX0.jpg

Love the sparkle
QorF5pQ.jpg

Anyway, got the 20K all pulled down and cleaned up. resealed. New timing belt. Swapped over all the nice alloy bits off a Legacy motor.

Got onto late model coil conversion.
Gutted the igniter, turned it into a pass through and potted it with epoxy. Not pretty but hopefully should work great for years to come.
3FLcwSZ.jpg
0CVSiEj.jpg

Stripped the tubing off the manifold loom, mocked it up then ran my earths alongside the factory wiring. keeps it nice and tidy.
l0HQz3A.jpg

Purchased some RX8 coil connectors as well as new coil connectors to make up a nice tidy harness.
iVDOTKr.jpg
D7sxZS1.jpg
EOmgUzS.jpg
3xIUm4f.jpg
9wdJnNV.jpg

This update really is all over the shop, back and forth doing bits and pieces everywhere. :lolz:

Rebuilt the front hubs, New genuine bearings and seals just like I'd done with the rears.
8EMcCab.jpg

Ran into clearance issues with the GD high pressure steering line. Wanted to live exactly where the header tank does.
4RIWx0X.jpg

Sussed a line from a BL EJ204 car which works a treat.

Cleaned gearbag
p0bhGrv.jpg

Got the basics of the front end loosely assembled so I could roll it back outside for engine install(Not a lot of room in my 1 car garage)
BYBS4s3.jpg
OaWPIp4.jpg

Shitloads of castor. Didn't expect so much from just the Alloy arms with free castor mod and an anti lift kit.
9EEcjAj.jpg
Clutch installed. Had hoped to run a 6kg flywheel I had but the clutch bolts were spaced further out so unfortunately ended up with the stocker on there.
ZnQVZXe.jpg

Gearbag assembled onto motor.
9yHHEsu.jpg

Shoved in the hole
vj2LkfH.jpg
Qehsaw0.jpg
zVgn1Fp.jpg

Gearbag mounting goodies. Group N mount, Group N isolators and super pretty Beatrush billet pitch stop
7FNhBBH.jpg

Installed new STi clutch hose and new genuine slave. Managed to install without bleeding the master dry.
bhdhL8q.jpg

Then bled the whole setup on the bench. So much easier than on car.
7TGFs99.jpg
0hdF9vs.jpg

Got the rest of the frontend installed
RXaFoCQ.jpg
zUYKygh.jpg

Set at ride height to tighten LCAs
AjooxBm.jpg

Brakes installed, bled them just now after work.
OFa4lBn.jpg
qk0M48O.jpg

She's getting pretty close now, have her booked for entry to Classic Japan car show on December 16th so it's really turning into a mad thrash to get her there.
Really hoping I can get it done. Regardless of what happens can't wait to finally get in and go for a drive.
