So what's the plan now?

Looking forward to the build up of those bits. Going into an Ej20G block??

Yep, basic spec run down. Everything but the ecu at the moment I have sitting here. Just need to get the coin together for machine work and all the seals, hoses etc. All the little things that don't cost much but get spendy pretty quickly...

Legacy 20G closed deck block
V3/4 Sti 20k shim under heads
93mm Wiseco pre 99 stroker pistons
K1 H beam rods
2017 STi EJ257 nitrided crank
ACL race no.5 thrust main bearings
ACL race big ends
Sard 850cc sidefeeds
ESL v1/2 daughter board
Factory tuned length(commonly referred to as RA) cast exhaust manifolds
Stock v1/2 td05-16g for now. Will decide later on what I feel like doing turbo wise
Stock waic.

I too thought it was a new purchase. Didn't realise you got jap plates for it.

ACL bearings - where did you dig them up from??

Well, I've gone ahead and bought another Dirty Ol' BF.

Basically this car stolen/recovered came up for salvage auction last week. With help of a mate ended up bidding and winning it for $600. Bought it just off of these pics. Worst case would part out and at least break even.

Got it home

Started having a poke around and turns out there's actually a bit of really good stuff in there. Knew from the Auction pics it had GC8 seats, Intake res delete, stupid atmo BOV & some kind of coilovers. Turns out it has Bilstein coilovers, Late 20G engine. V2 STi 4.11 box. Slotted rotors all around, anti lift kit, TD04L running gate pressure, Balaclava in the boot as well as a Milwaukee 1/2" impact. Score!

cG1tdfm.jpg
zFavbd0.jpg

Next challenge was getting it running, ripped door lock out and took to locksmith to get a key made up as it didn't have any. Charged battery at work, went home over lunch, tried to start it. No dice, nothing except the indicators stuck on. Figured it was the alarm so ripped that out when I got home. Tidied up the wiring. Starts first time, trys to idle, dies. Start it again, idle hunting a bit, attempt to put it into gear. Bullshit high clutch, but drive in 1-3 & R just forward and back in the driveway. Took her for a run around the block clutch slipping like crazy even breathing on the throttle but out of time.

Got to have a bit of a better play around with it today. Noticed zero clutch freeplay, stuck head under the dash and waddya know. Not only is the brake switch jiggling around loose for some reason but some idiots adjusted the clutch pushrod as long as it'll go. Tightened her up till the freeplay was bang on. Decided to piss the atmo BOV off which fixed the shit idle. Took it for a drive, no more slipping :D. Chucked an unregistered permit on. Filled it up with fresh 98 and took her for a good solid thrash. Pulls great, No lights, temps rock solid. No weird noises whatsoever. Steering rack felt fkn wrong and the tyres are ancient. cam covers leaking which is to be expected(According to police paperwork in the car had been in impound since sept 2016). But looks like a little more work, bang some rego on and I've picked up a mean daily for peanuts.

Comes up pretty good with a wash too. Have swapped out the indicators and grille and will go over the interior tomorrow if the weather isn't too shitty.

Pretty much out of room again haha
3bPAlls.jpg

Just realised I never mentioned the black thing either haha.

Basically I bought that a couple months ago from a guy in Brisbane. Had my mate will do all the running around and picked it up and stored for me for a few weeks.

Flew up with my dad, Will met us at the airport in his awesome Tommy Kaira BG.
o8q2kGG.jpg

Then drove the 20 hours back home on a permit. Staying overnight at my dads cousins place in Central NSW. Awesome trip, having never driven an EJ18S powered car I was surprised how reasonable it was and considering the condition of the car how reliable it was. Hot weekend, AC on the whole way as the main window switch block was broken and not even a hiccup.

v3H1EN9.jpg
245dtgk.jpg

Car is an oddball bitsa Ti Type S AWD Auto, shithouse rattle can black paintjob(With blue accents everywhere) Series 1 front end, rev C car. Picked it up basically just for the rear windscreen/wiper setup and additional wiring to complete the JDM rear conversion on the RS. Jap sedans are pretty rare over here. Facelift cars with blue glass even moreso so I probably overpaid for it but jumped at the opportunity. Have sold it already as is, just waiting for it to be picked up.

Geez nice pick up with that wagon! *jealous!*

Any under bonnet pics of the black thing - is this the funky dual intake runners for each intake port?

Cheers

In that case it's a carb EJ setup. Afaik the EJ never copped the SPFI setup, only the L series to meet emissions standards in certain parts of the states.

Those pieces (dizzy, intake and carb) are probably worth something decent to the right buyer. Makes for a very simple EJ conversion into a brumby or non MPFI L series ;)

The dizzy is mounted off the back of the cam on the rhs of the engine, roughly where the turbo is located for those boosted member's reference.

Nah the definiately got SPFI on the really basic models. I do think there are some with a carb as well. A DX in europe or japan rings a bell

Interesting, I've never heard of the SPFI on an EJ - just the carb version with the dizzy.

Why would you bother creating an SPFI system with a Dizzy? How's that a step up on the EA82 SPFI with a dizzy?? The EA82 MPFI with dizzy was upgraded in the EJ to ECU controlled ignition timing. It'd make sense to do the same for the SPFI on the EJ in my mind.

Cheers
