Hey guys,

Looking at getting some new tyres on my WRX. I currently have 2011 WRX rims with 225/45/17 tyres. Was wondering what the best tyres are? Currently have Continental Contisport 2 which are great for grip but seem to wear incredibly fast, any recommendations? Looking to spend no more than around $200 a tyre

Cheers.

I've had bad experience with the kumho's and if you read up you'll know they get very noisy.

But for the price they go for there's nothing better. You get what you pay for.

If I were you, I'd spend the extra cash and get Bridgestone RE002's

Same

I've put like 30 thousand on mine

Heaps of tread left, still grippy as fork

Comes down to the wheel alignment some times ;)

I was gonna say that Rob. Lack of proper wheel alignments are what cause a lot of tyre/road noise.

Go for something like a Michelin Pilot Sport 3 or Goodyear Eagle F1 Assymetric 2. They have the same sort of grip as the Conti's but will last a bit longer.

You will be disappointed going for something like a KU31 after having CS2s.

Thanks for the advice guys, I called around and asked a bit and apparently they don't sell the KU31s anymore.. as the contis go i loved the grip but the wear was insane.. the last 30-40% wore down in like 5,000km and i cant afford to be buying $300 tyres every year and half haha..

Going to have a look in to the Bridgestones and Michelin pilots. Does anyone have experience with the Pirelli p7s?

Whereabouts are you from? If you're from the Sydney area, I know that Tempe Tyres still stock the KU31's (at $144 each).

860/862-868 Princes Highway, Tempe, NSW, 2044.

It might be a bit of a trek for you to come down here though. If you're really keen on them, I'm sure something can be organised between myself and someone from the Central Coast that attends Hooters every month for example. I'm always willing to help out members.

Sounds good man. The only catch being someone who makes it to the Hooters meets from up your way. I'm sure something can be organised.
