Hey guys.

Decided it's probably about time to post something up. As some of you know I got myself another BD Liberty as a project car. My last one had an unfortunate ending with a fence, so after sorting out my finances I wanted to get myself in to another car. Was looking at SR powered Silvia's, but fear of the unknown kept me away. Soon enough, Aek, Scotty and a few others got in my ear and twisted my rubber arm and I started looking around for another gen2. I said I wouldn't get another one when the last one was gone... Yeah right!

Perhaps bit the bullet a little bit early with getting one, but I was hoping for something that I might be able to drive and use until I found a suitable conversion doner. Unfortunately, the good old ej25d head gasket gremlin struck again. I gave her a test drive but obviously not long enough... How naive of me to think I could buy a WHITE gen2 with no head gasket issues.... Anyway. She was a bit of a fixer-uper which was great, and got her at the right price. Have had to slap a couple of years rego while she waited, but all good.

For some strange reason I didn't really get many photos stock, but jump on car sales and you get an idea. Nothing special. Previous owner had done a stereo install (sub and amp) and that was it.

So. I wanted to try my hand at drifting, which is why I was looking at Silvia's. Not really sure how this is going to go, but watch this space. Got myself a PPG spool for a 6 speed, which has to be non-dccd. Right, got myself a target. Looking at STi's pre DCCD, and prefer EJ207. My last one had an early WRX motor in it, and I always longed for a better set up (newer, 6 speed etc..). Need R180 for any sort of reliability of drive shafts. Want 207. Want ECU that can be tuned. Sick of chasing old AFM's. Suddenly my donor criteria was becoming clearer - bug eye STi's have always been something I kept my eye on.

Some muppet forgot how to drive on my street, bumped in to the car and did a bit of front end damage to the bar and reo. No big deal. Got a cash settlement for it and got myself 2 new bars, and a set of early GC8 bucket seats with the money.

So fast forward a little while and things are starting to come together now. Found an excellent 01 STi in Japan, decided to proceed with the purchase and get it all shipped over. It took many, many months for it all to happen. Seller in Japan tried to pull out of the sale a few times, eventually Aaron from Import Monster got it all moving through and they took delivery of the car. Little did I know at this stage just how much love was put in to that car.

I have been unpacking the bits and pieces of the car that I got and have felt a little bit bad about it all. The car came with all receipts from STi extras (trailing arms, genome gauges). Log books for all servicing. All manuals and installation material for all parts installed in the car. Seats don't look like they had seen a bum at all, no bolster wear on drivers seat and the list goes on. This would have been an amazing car, low genuine KM's too.

Anyway. Conversion will be taking place in March / April. Full drivetrain going in. Tein coilvers with EDFC, Huge oil cooler. HKS valve timing controller. Speed cut defender. Beatrush under tray (+1000kw) and more. Have got adapter for the steering rack to mate up to the steering column in my gen2. Probably more things I will find out as I do the conversion, gotta keep things challenging.

Have only recently got her back from the panel beaters as well. Full respray, damaged fixed up, seals replaced and JDM boot / window / bonnet conversion done. For now, another NA with a bonnet scoop. Hm.

Will update the thread as we go, pretty stoked to get it out there and I hope I can get it all finished for #HVC15!

Now for some pics.

All stock, when I picked her up and got her home for an ass shot. Kelly even got to drive her home!!

Thanks for looking !!  :yahoo:

Wicked.

I missed what happened to the old Lib.

But can't say no to a STi powered Gen 2.

How are the drifting aspirations transpiring? For what it's worth there's a bloke called Leighton Fine, comes to Syd a lot to teach driving courses out in West Syd, was the 2008 Aus Drift Champion, might be worth seeing if he does Drift Lessons.

Oh yeah?? I might check it out. I did a small couple of hour course on the skid pan at Eastern Creek. I have a lot of work to do. Ha ha.

Old Lib probably got the best way out. On to bigger and better things.

Hitech have taken over drift school and are the only drift courses exclusively held at eastern creek now. Fernando Wiehrl was the head instructor but i hear he's on the way out. New team and instructors are on the low at the moment..

Car plans sound mad. But full respray and all these lovely parts on something you're going drift? It would be a shame to punt it into a wall
