Hi guys,
I'm returning home to Umina from a holiday in Tassie and the gearbox has shit itself. As the title says, I'm in Avenel which is approx 120 K's from Melbourne. Luckily I made it off the Hwy and I'm parked up opposite the Caltex service station so I'm in a good position to sort this out.
I could get it towed to Melbourne & replace or repair the box but I'm thinking the most sensible option would be to get the car transported back home to either Gosford or Umina so I've decided to go that way rather than risk another costly breakdown.
So I'm calling on the Melbourne crew or anyone else that may be able to help me with advice on car transportation & reasonably priced towing.
I assume a transporter would need the car taken to them or is it possible they could pick me up here?
It can't be driven so can they even get it on their truck?
Does anyone know of a decently priced Transport company in Vic?
Can anyone recommend a cheap towing company?
I'm more than happy to stay right here in the car until Monday as the Caltex has a restaurant, showers etc. & I won't be able to get the info I need from the transporter until Monday it seems.
I can't really leave the car alone overnight as I'm worried someone will pinch my STi wheels (No lock nuts) so I will be staying at her side until it's sorted.
Any advice which would make this bad situation less damaging on the wallet would be appreciated.
No need to express sympathy for me, keep this thread clear so it's easier for me to get the info I need, please.
