I tried & it didn't work. The CEL doesn't go away.

Search in the UK & USA for a new OEM sensor. Much cheaper.

To the manifold.

It's unrelated to your problem.

Source a new sensor.

I may be an earth (not sensor earth) problem as this code is related to the sensors internal heater.

It may also be a power supply issue to the heater, or the sensors heater circuit itself.

you can use o2 sensors for the GD wrx on the b4. the wiring is a bit longer for the rear sensor, which you can sort out with some cable ties. i ordered these for my b4 a while ago from the US where they are much cheaper:

DENSO 234-9011 - Front Oxygen Sensor Subaru WRX 2002-2005
DENSO 234-4732 - Rear Oxygen Sensor Subaru WRX 2002-2005

There are Bosch equivalents available and they are sometimes cheaper. They are probably fine but i've never used them. I wouldn't buy a cheaper replacement either, i've had bad luck with no-name brand o2 sensors.

For anyone searching this thread later on, the JDM EJ20TT uses the same 3-wire O2 sensor as the GC8 (which is different to the AUDM EJ20). GC8 sensor is plug and play.

I never had any issues with eBay spec cheap sensors from the UK and USA as long as they were Legacy specific sensors.

There was a sensor I tried with the same part no as ours, but was for a WRX so it had a different plug & I had to splice my old plug onto it, but it worked fine.
