Hi lads.

After letting go of the Redsled (deadsled), I've had a big hole in my life.

Don't get me wrong, life has moved on for me. I got married, bought a new house, I'm doing well in my new career.

Bought a large spiffy car, living the dream.

But felt like something was missing. Not talking about missing sunroofs with sheetmetal riveted in place kind of missing.

I'm talking about something to dote over.

MY10 WRX was fast, but bland. MY02 GT Forester was a little pain. And lacked several forward gears for a few months.

Then this came along, and I had to make the jump.

Credit to Ben @ Ichiban, and Cameron Johnson for building this mythical beast. It's no MCM Gramps, but I'm in love again.

Couple of weeks ago, I had the alternator and battery die.

I've now replaced the battery, and an alternator from a Gen4 H6, which I believe is about 120-130amp.

Nice one Alex.

Back in a wagon, and a H6 manual one at that.

If I told you I was a compulsive liar, would you believe me?

Bahahahahhaha!! Yeah, funny how things bite you on the arse!

Turbo bonnet will hopefully come into good use in the not too distant future!!

Funny story though - I saw Cameron's EOI and I really admired the work and love that went into it.

My SF5 sat in the garage with a blown box. I was somewhat busy with work, and stuff around the house, to take an active interest in resurrecting it.

I showed my wife the ad for the Gen3. She asks

"Does the gearbox work in that thing? If it does, you should swap..."

Cameron came down, we looked at each other's cars and we came to a mutual agreement.

Then my wife cracks it about me not consulting her about such major purchases.

She then cracked it even more when I reminded her that it was, in fact, her idea!!!

Hoping to emulate some of your good work Mark.

I only hate the Gen3 because of the rear end. It's not compatible with much. I am wondering, however, if Gen4 rear subframe is compatible with Gen3, or are they two totally different setups.

I am only thinking about Brembo/R180 compatibility/boltonability

The really like the rear, its the front I had issues with but Rev D-E front is nice especially with skirt.

I just bought the tbSTi without telling my wife. :D Women huh....

Work put into that car definitely sets it above the rest.

I'm thinking of going with the mudflap pods, colourcoded.

I'd love to go skirts, much like yours Mark, but the height is juuuuuust riiiiiiiiight. Car is being daily'd at the moment, and makes a fine steed for such duties.

316mm brakes work remarkably well, so I won't be replacing them anytime soon. KU36s are good for handling, but a tad noisy. I'll replace them when I replace the wheels.

I'm thinking about gearboxes at the moment. I'd love some more differential action. Open diffs suck. I'd love to go back to a sixspeed with suretracs, but $$$ and wife.

Should be able to get a 4.11 limited slip rear cheap enough
Would only be a viscous but it still helps
Oh just seen you have a b4 rear diff
Should be viscous already

Thanks Cam :D

I just hate seeing good cars go to waste.

Sorry about the lemon. Only got as far as the shifter bushes, and well, the gearbox redesign.

I'll leave the rear end be for now... But open front ender makes baby Jesus weep. Especially when cocking up a wheel going up a hill with the coilovers!

Thinking of picking up a cheap V3/4 STi 4.44 setup, and maybe if I'm lucky, a 20kg centre diff along with it.

Good to know though
I think I'll leave mine alone till 6 speed time ha

Thought you were really in to the whole Lesbian thong though..

This. Can't wait for the day He accidentally purchases a TT.

I like to think of it as borrowing someone's car and driving it better than them.

Front skirt is only about 10mm lower than bar, just sticks out forward more.

KU36's are the devils work after about 10k. Way too noisy for a daily and used to drive me nuts in the GT on the Freeway.

Endless 6 pots are nice for form and function. :D

Auto, daily cruiser means no interest in diffs. :P

Bwahaha, Alex in a Gen3. This is going to take me some time to digest  :sarcastic:

But jokes aside, I think we can all agree this is one very likeable Gen3. That EZ30D absolutely sings. Can you get these things to run on E85 like the R's?

Rob - Paul/Aek had 20kg centre in the silver GT/V4 BG5 conversion. Drove well. Just no suretracs like the GD STi.

Sam - dude. Really? You know I had a TT, right? Tried every trick in the book? As for the lesbowagon? You thought wrong...

Baaahahahahahaha Thanks Shiv. Didn't take long at all. Remarkably familiar after the BG5. Not going down the E85 path yet, gains would be somewhat negligible with an NA vs outlay.

Gen3's are likeable. After seeing Mark's, this, Matt/Grant's, Patrick's and a couple others, it drew me to the conclusion that not every Gen3 owner is #swag #yolo

I thought the complete R180 setup from the TbSTI's dropped right into your wagon Alex, drive shafts and all including the gear box.

Well my bad. I only know up to Redsled. That was a single conversion wasn't it? Haha. fork.

But..but..but.. UKDM Foz? That's about as Lesbian as you get. When it runs. :P
