Hi jacka,

I did this a while back. The extra wires in that plug run up to the splits. As for which colour goes where:

2003 Subaru Legacy Car Stereo Radio Wiring Diagram
Radio Constant 12V+ Wire: Blue/Red
Radio Ignition Switched 12V+ Wire: Yellow/Green
Radio Ground Wire: Black
Radio Illumination Dimmer Wire: Purple
Radio Antenna Trigger Wire: N/A
Radio Amplifier Trigger Wire: Green
Left Front Speaker Wire (+): Brown/White
Left Front Speaker Wire (-): Green
Right Front Speaker Wire (+): Red/Yellow
Right Front Speaker Wire (-): White/Black
Left Rear Speaker Wire (+): White/Red
Left Rear Speaker Wire (-): Red/Black
Right Rear Speaker Wire (+): Blue/Yellow
Right Rear Speaker Wire (-): Red/White

I used spacers from eBay to ensure the speakers did not interfere with the window mechanism. The holes in the ring line up perfectly with the existing holes. It ships as a left and a right side.

If you want pictures, I can probably find some.

Hey guys, don't mean to hijack this but what size are the front and back speakers? Mine are on the way out as well and wanted to replace them too...

I used 6 inch in mine so they would bolt into the adaptors I bought. Ensure you dont get ones that are too deep or they won't clear your window.

But would 6 inch speakers fit without adaptors and how can you tell if they're too big or not to intefere with the windows?

Thanks zahmad, but there wasn't anything there to answer my question :(
Do I get 6" or 6.5" and what's the depth I can go before they hit the window... Also, must I get spacers?

Sorry mate didn't see your question. I used 6" in the front and made my own mounts out of 6mm ply. The speakers were 42mm deep from memory and did not have any issues with them hitting the window.

Thanks heaps Jack, do you think I can get away with using 6.5's or best to go with 6"? Also are the back n front the same size?

6" front and rear, you can use 6.5" and you will need spacers. Thickness of spacers depends on depth of speaker magnet.

I just re-did my fronts yesterday. I made 12mm thick rings out of perspex all round. I needed 10mm minimum to clear the windows with my JL speakers.

I found that my B4 ran at an unusual OHM. Had to replace all the wiring.

Yes, Mac amp runs a different ohm rating

MY00 Red RX, a nice daily that was sold off once the B4 became reliable...
MY02 Blue B4, aka 'The Project' - v8 JDM STi engine package and assorted other 'goodies' - Sold, then bought back for parts. Stripped and crushed.
MY03 Blue RX, the newer old daily, pretty well more B4 than RX now... In the process of being converted to the track toy... Watch this space!
MY02 Silver Wagon, H6 conversion, full blue/black leather and almost full black interior to go with it.
MY03 White/Silver H6 Outback, donor car for silver waghoon.
MY97 Silver RX, acquired to become track car, but plans changed. To be stripped and scrapped in time.

yeh - system is designed to run 8ohm, but max amp can drive 4ohm speakers fine.

The OEM sub is 4ohm, and it uses the same driver chip as all the other speakers.

Only bad thing that will happen is the sub EQ is thrown out relative to the main speakers.

I plan to use a gen3 mac amp on  I have lying around on standard 4ohm car speakers when I sort out my head unit.

Can I get away with using 3-way speakers for the fronts and 2-way for the back? Or best to stay with 2-way all round?
