Hello.

Need to check the RB over as I'm getting to odd whiff of coolant, not losing any but Subaru head gaskets make me nervous.

Had the same issue, turns out it was a slight hairline crack in my radiator. It was so so, that the coolant was evaporating before it could hit the ground.

I put up with people from amnesty, red cross and now the cancer council almost daily hounding me!! Throw in the greens, green peace, unhcr, save the forking children and I've well and truly hit my limit for the number of fuckstains wanting me to sign something or give money. Seriously cubts,  :fork: right off.

To be completely fair, women's shoes aren't going to make Niko look any more rootable.

How is that being fair?

Do all suby's of that era have the same destined-to-fail plastic radiator end tanks that the foresters were cursed with?

Yeah must do.

The aftermarket one I got is working like a champ though.

Fkn MkVI Golfs......

Got a 1.4 TSI (turbo and supercharged for extra engine stress) here that has a missfire code in cyl4.

I'm wondering if the 80psi comp pressure in cyl4 has anything to do with it??? Others are 165psi.

Had to use cable ties to get the coils out. Grrr

Dem Germans be crazy.

All vehicles with plastic tanks will fail at some point. Flushing/replacing coolant at least every two years makes all the difference.

I'm on my third radiator. 1 adrad 1 repco back to adrad.

I just chalked it up to serviceable life. Never had a catastrophic failure. Just just start to weep or crack.

Thinking about it. I got like 4 years out of this one.

Not bad. I think not flushing the coolant after my bush fix in tasssie probably didn't help

Thats not bad.

I pulled my thermostat out and ran a hose through the motor for like 20 mins when I replaced mine.

Yep, same same, but I STILL haven't got all the air out of the system.

Bleeding subaru coolant systems can eat a supertanker of dicks.

Strangely. I've never had a problem. I only bought the special funnel because I'm lazy and didn't want to make the funnel bong anymore.

I jacked my car up to almost 90degre angle, I used a funnel bong, cycled the heather and aircon like 20 times and its still got a small bit of air in there.

They have that (might be 1.6) in the current passat. Was tempted to give it a go when I got the Auschwitz mobile.

Oh the dreaded CAV engine.

It's a cracked piston.

I like to think of it as borrowing someone's car and driving it better than them.

Wouldn't be at all surprised Sam.

As far as I can tell, there was some sort of ECU software upgrade to eliminate a detonation problem. If the owner had run 98RON from the start it may have survived?

Also, I was looking for the engine ID in the service book and noticed the VIN was wrong. Found the correct service book so I suspect the dealer placed a service book from another car in the folder!
