Bugger. What does that actually mean for you? Replace the bearing only - or will it have done some more damage further down the line? Is it because of the drama you were having with the alignment not long ago?

guess its from going through a bunch of water last week, got into the bearing which more than likely had no lube or little lube left and just mc fugged it.drive shaft will be comming out, whole bearing needs to be replaced, shaft will get balanced too

currently sounds like a bunch of crickets under the car

Alex,

The Celica is still running OEM sealed beams?

If so, you may find that wiring a relay to them will improve them heaps.

I did this to one of ours with its Lucas (Prince of Darkness) sealed beam lamps and they went from terrible to acceptable.
I must admit, keeping the OEM lights was the only option.

If I told you I was a compulsive liar, would you believe me?

Jason,

she was still running the original sealed beams.

despite the engine conversion, she's still running the original alternator. No idea as to the amperage of it, but I imagine it's craptastic.

I'm wanting to upgrade it to an EA Falcon unit, as with minimal mods, it'll fit (grinding a couple mm off the rear mounting foot... and apparently the Bosch ones are externally regulated, so I can continue to use my regulator?)

Once I've sorted this alternator debarcle, I can then proceed with the Gilmer belt drive ordering and installation.

Alex,

The output should be stamped on the alternator body.

I would suggest 40-50A.

Unless you have added lots of additional load to the system, a higher output may not be worth it. Some also have a low output at low rpm.
I fitted a 80A to my Ford and ended up having to fit a smaller pulley to get some decent output at idle.

Adequate wiring to high load devices, such as headlights, is the key.

If I told you I was a compulsive liar, would you believe me?

The only other potential high load device would be the CD player.

It did have an amplifier and subwoofer in it, but I've removed the sub, and disconnected the amp.

Pushing the friendship here, but would you have a copy of a generic wiring diagram for a headlight upgrade? and what gauge of wiring would you suggest?

cheers

Alex

Jase, are you talking about relays with upgraded wiring so basically you have a dedicated and direct link to the battery from the lights?

If so I might also be able to dig up some info from the mini forum for you alex, because I'm sure they do the same type of mod?

If you punch someone like that you're going to break either your index finger, or the top part of your hand (OUCH!). I don't even know how you can pull your thumb in that far... do you have tiny chimp hands?

Pretty sure that fist was going to be used to punch vaag's, not skulls.

Real men use fly kicks to the head, not fists.

Real men use fists, mate.

What sort of pansy fighting is that, fly kicks and glassing is the gentlemen's way.

Or trolley bars.
