Here is a questions for you guys,

i cam up to an intersection that had a saftey camera and wasn't sure on which way to turn. it was 7:30 sunday morning with only one other car on the road.I was in a lane that you could only turn right and the lights went green to go straight ahead. so i merge back into the lane next to me an continued across the intersection. However as i did so the saftey camera went off and pinned me.

My argument being i shouldnt get done for turning right on a red light as i remerged back into the lane to go straight. Does that sound about right? i know about the fact that you cant change lane in an intersection but i cant be fined for an act i clearly didnt do right??? let me know

My understanding is that the cameras do not get right/left turn bays. However, if its a big enough intersection and your car penetrated the two points required to set off the camera, it is possible (but I'm not sure) that you could have gotten pinned.

Which intersection was it?

What's the go!?

Seriously, I think you should pay it and stop trying to find ways out of it. It's a pretty cut and dry offence mate.

You cannot merge lanes through an intersection, if you were merging through after the line was solid to break the lane then you are in the wrong anyway.

Are you saying you were in the westbound lane of two right hand only turns, then merged over the solid white line into the two lanes that went straight on?

If so, you broke the law. Crap as it is, you should've taken the right turn and rejoined further up the road.

Ok so what exactly can they fine me for then? I didnt actually go through a red light to turn right, i changed my mind a went across into the middle lane to go straight. If they send me a fine for turning right on a red light and i prove that i didnt, can they then re issue a different fine for somthing they didnt pick up on but i outlined to them?

Ah ok I see what you did there.

You'll have to fight it then.

They might not even send you an infringement notice if they see your car is going through the intersection on a green. I had a situation where I had to cut a corner due to a removals truck being parked on the road and the camera went off at me despite the fact that I technically was not running any red lights. I was the only car on that intersection at that time and it flashed. I never got anything in the mail...

Can you answer my above first!

:D

I'd give it a go if I were you - I feel for you, mate. But you're in NSW - I can't see fighting it working for you. What is that, 3 demerits?

Why wouldn't I try to get out of it. It's $344 I'd rather have in my pocket.

She wasn't driving negligently. Unfortunate circumstances and landscaping meant she ended up on her roof (if it was a flat section of land, she would've gently slid across the grass and kept on driving).

We are just going to grin and bear it (after pay day this week) but if there is any way I can get out of it, I'm going to try.

What you talkin' bout?

I rolled with it at first. Always thought it was 'grin' but meh. I've been wrong before. Not often. But sometimes.

I then did some quality research.

Grit your teeth and bear the pain.

Grin and bear is incorrect, if you Google 'could care less' it results better than 'couldn't care less' - does not make it correct. Come on grammar man - get your weight up.

I am with Nik on this. Grit and Bear.

Why would someone say "could care less"........ if you could care less why not just care less.

Big thunder here at the moment :D love it.
