I'm in urgent need of a long block to replace my 1999 gtb RSK motor that just did a head gasket.

Any recommendations for reputable suppliers in Melbourne.

Thanks.

Best bet would be either HCW or GotItRex.

Why not just replace the head  gasket ??

As per Nick's advise above, maybe add Top Torque to your list also.

There's water damage and scoring in one of the bores.

Ok, thanks for the extra info.

Sounds like you need a new short motor, reco your heads if required, then put it all together.

Contact Rising Sun Subaru(Noosa) or Ichiban(Sydney) they should be able to help you.

What part of Melb ya from ??

I've entered Targa High Country which starts on Friday, so it's a case of find a replacement engine and put it in on Tuesday.

Ring Scott @ Ichiban see what he has, see what Ebay has to offer.

Make sure you get an Revision A to C engine, make sure your car is a rev a - c, if its a 2000 model it should be.

Because later ones are a bit different.

Good luck with your time to get it going.

Ps I you post a pic of your car we can check it out for you.

Thanks Beckers. I've had another look at the specs.
It's a BE5C48T 05/00-04/01.
Thanks

Just re-read this thread, how bad is the scoring on the bore?

For the sake of one race meet would it hold out with a HG replacement? Or is the bore that far gone?

RSK is NA correct? If not then bin that idea. (I'm not up with those model designations yet).

Cheers

Cheers mate.

Dodgy HG swap probably not a good move then.

Thanks for the help fellas! Unfortunately, I wasn't able to get a short motor as the supplier was closed due to the long weekend. Top torque had head and inlet manifold gaskets available so that's what we did to get the car back on the road. It ran fine. Here is the post Targa shot-

So you made it to the rally for the long weekend? That's awesome!

And are you still running that engine or have you replaced/rebuilt it??

Cheers

Nice looking GTB there! And a mean set of brakes.

Congratulations on the gongs!
