I think it'd be a good idea to show the last edited by details if someone edits their post. Ideally, allow them one minute to edit (i.e. spelling mistakes) and then it'll show it's been edited?

Ugh i could ramble on for forking days about this stuff.

It'd be nice to have an audit trail. So boost here can edit his post at some point, and we'll know when it was done. :P

On a similar note I have just enabled a function:

Merge member's concurrent posts
When a member posts twice within n minutes, once after the other in a topic they will be merged into one post. Enter the number of minutes to capture concurrent posts.

This means if you post more than once in 2 minutes in the same thread, it will merge the posts together.

OK. This has been changed. 5 minute limit for post editing, and users can not specify to show / hide the 'Edit by' text - this will show by default. You also can close your own topics now.

What the hell is this? "Sorry, an error occurred. If you are unsure on how to use a feature, or don't know why you got this error message, try looking through the help files for more information. The error returned was: Sorry, the board administrator has enabled search flood control. Please wait at least 60 seconds before trying again." It's been happening when quickly flicking between reading a post and clicking on View New Posts. It's pretty annoying! FIX IT!

Admin should be a 'bug report' thread where this sorta stuff (errors) can be reported.

Ugh i could ramble on for forking days about this stuff.

Edit button should always be visible on all of our posts instead of there being a time limit. I just had an instance where I wanted to add info to my post after X amount of time and it had locked me out. Just a convenience thing really. Oh and if we can have the ability to delete our posts, that would be pretty cool too.

Cool and helpful, in case we double post (accidentally of course) or someone posts the same answer quicker.

Read all quoted text.

5 minutes should be enough to edit a post, and if you post more than one time per 2 minutes it will merge the posts automatically.

Posting at the same time as some one else on forums is just a way of life really - learn to be quicker :)

What if you come back 10-15mins later and find you've mis-spelled something. Like "They're - their - there." It looks retarded when you get it wrong. But its easy done.

I think there still should be the option to edit the post, but merging concurrent posts is a great idea. and why not make it 15 min... honestly why would someone post within 15 minutes of their original post unless there was a reply??

Yep, that combined with the ability to edit indefinitely will promote the editing of posts to and new information, rather than filling up a page with short useless posts.

one thing.... when the user edits there original post, will it come up as an unread post or will they have to reply to the thread with "updated original post" I think that it should be classed as an unread post if it has been edited.

They will need to post up a new post in there for it to register as having anything unread.

Editing a single post is simply just an edit - won't toggle 'unread' for users :)

Auto merging posts will remain, 15 minutes is too long.

I will disable the edit post timer due to the valid points you have raised, Paul. It will ultimately mean less moderation on the site.
