Got a mate who found an advert selling a Subaru Gen3 electric PS rack.

Ive not known Subaru to do an electric power steering rack. Theres an electric motor mounted to the steering input shaft and it seems to have the two regular hard lines to the rack.

Anyone know any info about this sort of setup and if so, what model it came from?

Cheers

Bennie

Not sure about any other models, but the gen5 has them stock.

MY00 Red RX, a nice daily that was sold off once the B4 became reliable...
MY02 Blue B4, aka 'The Project' - v8 JDM STi engine package and assorted other 'goodies' - Sold, then bought back for parts. Stripped and crushed.
MY03 Blue RX, the newer old daily, pretty well more B4 than RX now... In the process of being converted to the track toy... Watch this space!
MY02 Silver Wagon, H6 conversion, full blue/black leather and almost full black interior to go with it.
MY03 White/Silver H6 Outback, donor car for silver waghoon.
MY97 Silver RX, acquired to become track car, but plans changed. To be stripped and scrapped in time.

Certainly wont be a gen 3 rack.

BRZ  and presumably the FA/FB era is when they changed over

Hard lines doesn't sound right.

Not a std hydraulic rack with speed-sensitive assist?

Here's an electric Foz rack.

note 'motor' on rack - which presumably actuates a valve for adjusting the assist.

Sporty steering solenoid checks out as a gen 3 rack

Good investigating Duncan! That seems to be it with that solenoid unit sitting near the steering input shaft. It certainly doesn’t have the motor under the main rack section.

Thanks fellas!
