That $1775 includes more than just the tune doesn't it? Like Fuel pump and/or other bits and pieces? To get back to the original post (!!) Merlin, If you are seriously looking at the B4, to have one in Adelaide I would recommend AS A MINIMUM that once you buy the car you get it tuned fairly soon after ($1775 at S & J in Adelaide- the ONLY place that will tune a B4 in Adelaide) and put a CAI on it- around $300.

Its never a good idea to look back at what you have spent, it takes all the fun out of it, but hey there are worse ways to spend money...

I call her "B" cos she's good to look at from either end (like her namesake).

true... at least its going on the car not on fines and defect notices!

I enquired with Hyperflow about the size of their TMIC and the standard B4 splitter/inlet... This was the response:so this doesnt come with a splitter???? you wont get the full potential of the cooler without a proper splitter to maximise airflow on the cooler and provide a positive seal.
"Our Liberty B4 TMIC units come with intercooler as pictured in either polished or powder coated wrinkle black. As the B4 is twin turbo they do not need the high flow Y-Pipe we provide with the WRX kits. Our TMIC tanks are carved from billet aluminum and of the highest quality coupled with the most efficient TMIC core available. Our B4 Kit does not come with an additional splitter unit as the increased thickness of the intercooler allows for the unit to sit right up under the scoop."
So, no inlet duct required because it sits up against the bonnet under the scoop?

I left the front bit there to stop any hot air from the eng bay going in.
Buy it or not I don't care, they do work, they are better than std, if you can find a 2nd hand one they're cheap and they bolt straight on.
If your concerned about the design why not ring/email H/flow and ask them what research they did before they decided on that design.
Cos ATM it really seems pointless to me for both of you to be running them down/writing them off when neither of you have used them or really done any research into the field...

Up to 200kw at the wheels (280 at the flywheel) we have found any of the Hyperflow top mount intercoolers to be adequate, in fact we even have a customers car that has almost 300 atw running a TMIC. They are almost double the size and flow of the std. I/C plus the efficiency of the silicone "Y" hoses, fabricated tanks plus bar & plate core for the dissipation of heat, all work together to make the most of the classic Subaru under bonnet intercooler. We can also supply larger improved bonnet scoops plus water spray kits for most models to compliment the already awesome performance improvement. With very noticeable gains in torque & power, plus the added engine reliability in most cases the Hyperflow TMIC kit is hard to go past. For example an 01-05 WRX with the usual exhaust, turbo, injectors & Ecutek upgrades usually makes about 175kw ATW, bolting on a Hyperflow TMIC with no other mods never fails to give us another 10kw of power plus approx 30-40 nm of torque ! - from S&J automotive w/site
Sounds good mate, i have been thinking about upgrading my top mount but its hard to find stuff for B4's in Ireland because they a pretty rare(basically if its not a rice Honda or an Impreza not a lot of places stock the parts).
Do you know if Hyperflow have any suppiers in Ireland.

mate no need to get your knickers in a knot. If you see back to my post I said MORE research is required. Just because a company says that their design is better means jack diddly to me. OF COURSE THEY WILL SAY THAT.
I do have a fair bit of turbo system knowledge as I work with them every day. All I was saying is that I don't doubt its better than std (!!) but Im just not sure that its the best TMIC option avail WITHOUT SOME MORE RESEARCH.
Fair enough
