Top radiator hose is hot, bottom is cold. Cars booked in tomorrow to have it looked at then fixed.

Radiator and all associated pipes were hot as usual. Water pump was replaced at the 100,000km servce so hopefully its not that.
Is the thermostat a relatively quick and cheap thing to replace?

but you said they were hot here?

change it yourself. pull off the bottom coolant hose (when car cold) let all the coolant flush out two bolts to take off the thermostat housing and its out.

make sure you put the thermostat back in the right way!

It's a 5minute job, pretty hard to go wrong, it's pretty hard to put the thermostat in the wrong way ha ha. All you need is a 10mm socket with a small extension.

not really. you need to fill it up with coolant properly to prevent air locks. this alone will take 20min at least.
