Ok I went and seen it today... Fug the thing halls ass without even givin it full throttle! Seems like a very well looked after family car with a few scratches here n there...

Pros: bargain for it's performance n mod list... The ease if an auto! Low kms for it's age

Cons: Rego runs out end of next month, body is a lil rough, needs a polish... The exhaust on an auto sounds a lil dicky n is a bit too loud for my liking but is quiet in the car while driving so the muffler will definately need changing to a quieter one if I was to purchase it...

Overall I do like it alot but it is only the 2nd one I've looked at...

I have also thought about getting a Lib Gt sedan with leather/sunroof for under $17k but not quite sure if I'll be totally happy as it won't have the versatility of the foz...

Once you have a wagon, you constantly find ways of using its versatility and often wonder how you lived without one.

A Gen4 Lib with all the trimmings and a turbo is tempting! But just remember, a Forester XT has all that added practicality. Its a different drive to a Lib, and there are different pleasures to be had with it. You'll appreciate it once you own it...

I went from a shiny range-topping Lib to a big fat ugly Outback wagon and I can honestly say - best decision ever. Its great having a slightly rugged vehicle you can easily pack with your mates, booze and some fishing gear for a weekend out of town. Plus a Forry XT will haul-arse if you poke the throttle which is a bonus. LOVE those cars...

Yea you'll get a letter from the insurance co. saying that the car is now in their possession. You take that letter to the RTA and they'll give you a refund for whatever is left of the rego (from the date of the accident)
Give the greenslip insurance co. a call too and make sure they're aware of your policy cancelling. You'll get a refund from that as well. If it ends next month it won't be much but better than nothing :)

I need help guys, does everyone think this is worth it?

The body does need a good polish to get out the scratches n possibly the rear bar resprayed... Rego runs out end of July, does have 4 new tyres, Advert price $16500, owner said hes looking around the $16K mark...

Offer him $15000? And go from there or offer less and work up from there?

imo its a good buy, mine came with a few scratches on the front and rear bumpers, but nothing worth fixing for me cos u nvr know, u mite just scratch it the very next day.. plus, if any1 hits me i can get it replaced or even say they did it and get it repaired hahah...

but anyway, have u taken it to a mechanic, etc? imo thatd settle any worry u mite have about it mechanically and u can make a more informed choice

I havent taken it to a mechanic but it has been serviced originally by MRT, then Repco Auto Care Liverpool (owners next door neighbour) and the last service done by Pulse Racing as the owner is mates with Paul.

I wanna take another look at it again, look through all the paperwork as I only looked at the service manual and the general other things u look at...

If it looks alright and goes alright buy it. What more can you want? 170 at the wheels should go good . You won't need a rolling start to keep up on cruises ha ha. Just get a resonator put in the exhuast if it's too loud :)

As I said before, I think its good value considering all those mods on it. Your negotiating with his wife right? Even better.

You've been smart about it so far. You've considered other cars and not bought the first car you've looked at. You've got the upper hand at the moment so make them a low offer and see what they say.

Good luck mate, I think its a good car and would hope to see you in it. My car needs a polish too. If you or anyone else wanna go in a group to get that done, let me know!

Your right about the value. All other Fozza out there are asking for the same price are standard and have more KMs and all the rest that have around the same amount are at least $1-3K more.

Wat do u think I should offer if i decide to go for it?

Not trying to be smart, but you can offer them whatever you want. It depends on IF you can properly negotiate with them.

If someone comes to me and says "What's your best price?". They will not be getting the 'best price'. That is not negotiating in my books. If you play hard and actually justify your offer (ie; tell them about other cars on the market, tell them what they'd get for it at a dealer etc), you'll have a better chance.

If it were me, I'd jump in at $13.8K with room to move to $14.2K. If they play hard, pay whatever your actually willing to pay to get the car. But stick to your guns and I think you'll be pleasantly surprised. As a guide - my car was advertised for $16K, I offered them $12.8, negotiated, negotiated, negotiated and got the car for $13.2K. So depending on the seller, there are certainly 1000's of dollars to be shed if you play hard.

Good luck, and keep us in the loop! :)

Take cash money.
Offer $14k cash in the hand right now.
They'll take it after seeing wads of money. I would...

Then spend the other $2.5k you've allowed for suspension mods.

Yeah cash is king. I dropped the guy on my Lib from $10k to $5k cash.

I would offer $13.5k, then wait for a counter offer of $14k personally.

Cheers,
Shazza
